Gift for emom?

We think it's going to be soon, she started having contractions today! I would like to bring emom a little gift of some sorts. At first I had thought a nice frame with the baby's picture, but she doesn't want to see the baby, so I don't think that would be appropriate. Maybe a necklace or something? I'm just not sure. What kind of gift did you give emom/bmom?

We bought C a statue of an angel holding a baby that was also a picture frame...

For D, we bought her a book of poetry (she loves poetry) and a journal. She said that the journal "saved her life" after placing AJ - it gave her an outlet for all her emotions.

Someone gave me a plaque once that says "To the world you are one person, but to me you are the world!" It's one of my prized possesions. Maybe you could do something like that.

You could also do a birthstone necklace with the baby's birthstone in it.

I would check with your agency/attorney to make sure what is allowed in your state as far as a gift. Some states are very strict. That being said, we took a gift bag STUFFED with every kind of chocolate you could imagine, because she loved chocolate, and brought flowers the day after Nate was born. I had also bought a large leather bound photo album to give her as kind of a promise of the pictures we would send to fill it - but in the end it was all sooo emotional, and things got complicated, and we didn't give it to her. It just never seemed the right time to be like, " here's a photo album - thanks for the baby". Does that makes sense? The whole day was sooo emotional and "real" that it just would have seemed forced to give it to her. I think it all depends on the situation and what kind of relationship you have and plan on having in the future.

I just had professional pics taken of Nate and I had a ton of them made into 4 x 6 and put them in the book. I plan on giving it to her at our next meeting. I think she will really like it.

Bracelet

DH and I bought the bmom we were working with a bracelet that had charms representing different aspects of adoption. It came with a paper explaining what it was about. I don't think I can link you to the site on here, but if you are interested, PM me and I will be glad to send it to you.

Best of luck!

I gave our bmom a heart locket. So she could put a pic of DD in it and keep it close to heart.

We had our agency send her flowers at the hospital, they wouldn't let us give her a gift.

Flowers are always nice! I also got the idea of a journal on another post and I am stealing it-I think that is a great gift!!!

You could also do a nice photo album so she can put the pictures that you send her in it.

Good Luck and I hope the labor goes smoothly

I very dear friend of mine who had a baby through a surrogacy arrangement gave her bmom a nice basket with all kinds of stuff to pamper herself as well as a locket with the baby's birthstone. I like the idea of the gift . She also put a gift certificate in the basket for one of the local spas, but even a gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure would work too.
Even if gifts are not permitted, I would think a gift basket would be like send flowers or a fruit basket.

Thanks! We're actually HERE! She had the baby yesterday like right after I posted my OP! We didn't find out till later, crazy story. We're in the hotel (drove straight thru the night 13 hrs) taking showers and heading over to the hospital. She did room with the baby last night, so I might go back to the frame idea.

I'm really glad she decided to see the baby

Our Birthmom had a tatoo on her arm of the astrological sign of the DS she was parenting. In one of our conversations she said she wanted to add the sign of a DD that was placed with another family as well as our DS's sign. I gave her a gift certificate to a local tatoo artist that she talked about. The GC was enough to cover both new tats. She was so suprised and absolutely thrilled!

Red face Gifts....

As a Firstmom, I would have given anything to have a gold locket with a clipping of my twins hair. I of course was not thinking at the time. Today I would give anything to just see what they look like...still searching ...8,189 days and counting......
