We are doing a CD slide show of our "Trip to Tyler" and his frist year for his first birthday party (we are planning a huge bash and yes, I've already started trying to find a place!) We are using the Somewhere over the Rainbow (we'll use the one with Wonderful Life remix in it so it's a little longer) by IZ. (We also considere Baby by Michelle feather-something I think) DH and I love the IZ song, and it was a huge part of our entire journey (rainbows in general...long story). Tyler...Totally, completely infatuated with the song. He has two songs that he gives a hoot about...the first (played in the house) will capture his attention even if it's playing in the next room, and not very loud...is this one...

The second, on a CD in the car, is "Rockin Robin" on the Shake a Tailfeather CD...he can be screaming bloody murder like we've never fed him and he's got 5 pounds of poop in his pants (even if neither is true) and if we put that song on he's quiet by the second, Tweedly deedly deet...no idea.

10/07 - We start home study visits, requirements, and paperwork!
12/07 - Approved to adopt.
01/28/08 - Tyler is in our arms! He is less that 48 hours old!
11/15/08 - FINALIZE in St. Louis on National Adoption Day!

06/22/09 - Maybe we should do this again?
06/25/09 - Start the official paperwork to update our home study and make Tyler a big brother.
07/13/09 - Match with a 2.5 month old baby BOY!
07/28/09 - Matty is in our arms!

I have been thinking about doing a CD for our daughter and her journey with us. I would definatley use the IZ "Somewhere over the Rainbow", Sarah McLachlan "Ordinary Miracle"(the words to this one make me cry), Van Morrison "Brown Eyed Girl" and U2 "Window in the Sky" (well probly a whole bunch of U2 songs )

Leigh - The first time I really listened to the words was right after Em got out of ICU last fall. I was sad, we were far away from home, I missed the rest of my family, and I was soooo worried about my little girl. Even though she was out of ICU she still had a lot of tubes and wires and I looked at her and thought - what a miracle as I was listening to the words of the song!

And now everytime I hear that song I cry. And it's a commercial for something (seriously I can't remember what though). BUT I still look at Em and am constantly reminded of what an "ordinary miracle' she is.

Okay didn't mean to hijack the thread. A song I would use for my oldest son (when he graduates this year and we have a party) CD would be "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart.
