I am so angry at my neighbor! For the past three or four weeks everytime our 18 year old Son has friends over and they sit in our driveway the cops come and ID them and ask what they are doing. Well, Sunday night they had some fireworks, which are legal in our county, and they were shooting them in our yard around 9:30 at night. DH and I had taken the younger kids to the drive in movies so we were not home but when we got home our Son told us that the cops had come but they ran in the house before they saw them--typical kid behavior. So today the cops have been to three of our neighbor's houses asking what kind of kid our Son is and if he causes trouble on a regular basis!!!!! We are talking honor student who, other than a few speeding tickets, has never been in trouble in his life. One of our neighbors called and told my Son who called the cops and said that this particular person said that he didn't like all the cars parked at the end of his driveway so he was going to put an end to it by calling the cops everytime they were at our house! Needless to say, I am awaiting the cops to come to my house, they told the neighbors that they would be back tonight to talk with us and our Son. I am so angry and plan to confront the neighbor as soon as I get my blood pressure under control. What's up with people???????
Sorry for the long vent ![]() |

I can totally relate to you.
Last week I was camping with my two younger sons and my 17 year old was home. He was leaving our house one night at 10:00pm and as he pulled out of the driveway his ball joint (or whatever it is) busted on his car. He called a few friends and they were trying to lift and push it to the side of the road. The people across the street called the police, saying my son and his friends were "goofing around in the street". I asked my son if they were being loud, he didn't think they were too loud. I guess the neighbor just saw a group of boys and assumed the worst. The cops were very nice to the kids and let them continue trying to get the car to the side of the road. They were unsuccesful and had to pay a tow truck $100.00 to move the car 20 feet! I wonder why the neighbor didn't pay closer attention to what the boys were doing and offer help. SOme neighbors tend to think they own the entire block. I have another one that can't stand car parked in front of their house too. They road is fare game in my eyes. Good luck with your neighbor! |

My mother's neighbor is the same way. No one can park on her side of the street in front of the house. I always make a point NOT to park anywhere near the woman's house to avoid problems. However, she then told Maire-Kate, who was 5, that she wasn't allowed to walk on the sidewalk in front of her house, either. THAT, I had a problem with. I said "Where should she walk?" and the neighbor said "Let her go in the street. I don't want kids on my sidewalk". I had to tell the woman "People CAN walk on the sidewalk". She called the cops and they told her the same thing. People are allowed to walk on the sidewalks and park on the street (as long as they don't block the driveway).

ohoh Pick me I have one too....
Last week the lady that lives across the street came over to our house when my DH was home for lunch to ask if he would stop parking his work truck in front of OUR house cause she just got a new mini van and she is affraid that she might back into it. .....Are you kidding me??? DH told her he could not make any promisses.About a month ago I left my dome light on in my car and we live in a small town so the cops have nothing better to do than drive around so whe a cop came to my door to let me know that the light was on I was quite supprised but thankful. Well the next day the same CRAZY lady yelled across the street as I was putting my son in the car..."Hey do you mind if I ask you a question?" I said sure and she goes "what was the police doing at your house last night?" I told her but I wanted to tell her that they were planning a bust on her house or something. Some people just need to mind their own business!!! ![]()

Classic...curiosity killed the cat. MYOB! I hang some of my laundry in the neighbors yard (they have a huge clothes line, I'm so jealous!) clearly, some of the stuff I hang is Ty's clothes. The people that live there have two younger daughters (high school) that visit on weekends...usually when I do my laundry. So it was all the gossip in the neighborhood that one of their kids had a baby....it was hysterical. I even loaned the girls an empty baby carriage so they could go push it around...

LOL ..is your name Hope? My co-worker's husband has a business pickup truck and three times over the last year he has backed into the neighbor's car (parked across the street.) It's just nuts. You would think after the second accident that he would be more careful or she would park farther away!!

My neighbors called the police on us numerous times for our dogs because they were barking while they were (get this) INSIDE our house. I can understand if they were outside barking all night, but during the day they barked inside our house. Because of our jobs, DH and I know all of the police officers in town and they laughed when they came over to our house. The happiest day of my life was when those neighbors MOVED OUT!

Soon after lil guy came to us, he scratched a neighbor's van with his bike handle. I was not home, my adult son told them immediately we would pay for the repairs.
They proceeded to call the cops on my 6 year old--he was terrified, just what he needed after being placed in a new home, new neighborhood, new state--he had already had very negative contact with police due to bparents many altercations and arrests. He was so scared. I explained things to the officer--he was annoyed to be called out for such a silly reason--a scratched car that was definitely going to be repaired. He insisted on talking to my son, and I said h*** no, and went with him to "bless out" the neighbor. I think I scared them, they moved soon after! ![]() |

Oh well, DH and I had to go run some errands after he got home from work and the police, actually STATE BOMB INVESTIGATION SQUAD came to the door and had our 14 year old Son call us so they could talk to us on the phone. He had us come 30 miles home to meet them at the police station! Come to find out they went to every single person on our street to ask what kind of people we were and how our children were! They took DH into a seperate room while I stayed with Castle and questioned him and now our Son has to miss work tomorrow afternoon so he can go in to be questioned, under oath. I am so angry I could spit bullets but that might get me into trouble! They said they had a Class D offense against our Son and that he had better be honest or he could go to jail for a while! THIS IS CRAZY!!!

You've got to be kidding me!!! What can they charge your son for?, legal fireworks???
CALL A LAWYER! tonight if not sooner-surely before the meeting tomorrow afternoon, that is ridiculous! Sounds like the cops have it in for your son... Several of my family members work in law enforcement and its true that if a " couple of bad cops" want your son to find trouble, it can happen with a click of a pen...kwim? oath or not, you are his guardian, he doesn't have to speak to anyone if you say they can't question or talk to him... Even if he's done nothing wrong, they are trained to interrigate people. I've heard of people confessing to things they didn't even do, because they were coerced into it... he's young, they are people of athority- he can be intimidated... If it were me, I'd talk to an attorney. Keep us posted! S

Yep. Lawyer up. Don't talk any more to the police unless there is an attorney there, especially if it is under oath. Will a judge be there? Was he read his rights? Did they read him his charges? All of these are his constitutional rights that he cannot be denied.

This is just insane! As if the police do not have more pressing matters than to harrass your family!
Get a lawyer and stop this nonsense! I really feel for your son. We teach our children that the police are to be trusted. They are here to protect, not harm, and then this sort of thing happens! So sorry your family is going through this. I could just throw eggs at your neighbors windows! |

I agree about having more pressing things to do. We live in a very nice neighborhood, homes from the $250,000 up, and about three weeks ago our clubhouse and pool were vandilized. This is directly across the street from our house. They threw plants and dirt in our pool, broke the umbrella around the pool and spray painted gang symbols on the brick of the clubhouse. The police came and wrote a report but that was the extent of it all!!! AND THEY WANT TO PICK ON MY SON IN OUR YARD!!!
We are calling our friend who is an attorney, and happend to be our Son's Sunday School teacher this year. DH is calling first thing in the morning!! I'll keep you posted |
