I survived!

Cameron had his cardiac cath yesterday. He did great! We are already back home and he is doing great. A little more tired than usual, but doing good.

The good news: no open heart surgery (at least not right now).

The possibly not so good news: it looks like he has the same condition his bfather has. Bfather had a heart transplant at age 19... For now, they are going to check Cameron every six months to try and stay on top of this so he does not ever get to the point where he would need a transplant. But it is a wait and see thing. So, I get to worry about it forever...

At least we are finished for now.

Marci that's great! Any time they don't have to operate is a good thing . As for worrying we ALL get to worry for the rest of our lives. That's called being a mom. by the time he's 19 they will be fixing hearts with computers!

I'm very happy for you guys.

Marci, thats really great news!

Congrats on the test results. Just think how much technology has advanced in 5 years, can you imagine what it will be in 19?

The doctors don't seem to be overly concern by only scheduling check ups every 6 months.
Sounds very positive to me...

Hugs to the entire family!

I know you're going to worry about it, but it really is good news. Checking 2x/yr will let them keep a great eye on it and jump on correction if needed vs letting it go.

Big hugs all around. Breathe now.

I am so glad that things went well this time and that there's some good new!

Hoping & praying that your little guy grows up strong and healthy! And that his mommy can find peace - I'm sure it's hard not to worry.

Marci, so glad that the cath went well. I know that was very stressful.

My nephew had open heart surgery at 15 to replace some valves. It's been 2 yrs now and he's doing great!!

I agree, no surgery necessary is always good news.
But I also know what it feels like to know you have to keep worrying about the maybes. I can tell you this, at some point you make a choice to let tomorrow take care of itself and just deal with today.
After that, things get a little less scary. But I don't think we ever stop watching or planning "just in case" that worst case scenario becomes a reality.

Marci, great news for you and your little trooper. I'm sorry that there is still this "unknown" but thank gosh they know and can monitor it.

Heart

I'm glad you got such great news. Know that getting checked every 6 months, really is a good thing. If they were really concerned, he'd be in there a lot more. It might help for you to know, my Cameron has been extremely sick, and before his 2nd, 4 month hospitalization, he was seen at least every 2 weeks by his CT surgeon and seen every month by his cardiologist. Every 6 months for your Cameron really is great! My Cameron may need a transplant in the not too distant future (we're not sure at this point), but you really can't spend every day worrying. You have to have hope that your child will be taken care of. I have to remind myself every day that I can control none of this and that God has a plan.
