Boys and Dolls
So do your boy's have dolls? I feel like E would enjoy one. Not the crying, plastick kind (if they even still make those) but just a cool one....maybe a skater dude or something?
I'd love to hear boy doll stories and maybe get a brand suggestion. Thanks!

M has some babies - they are cabbage patch kids. He doesn't play with them as much as his other toys - but he definitely loves them. He has my old doll cradle and he loves to make them food in his kitchen.
I like that the cabbage patch kids have boys M has both girl and boy dolls.eta - He's very much a BOYS boy, loves to play starwars and kill everything.....it's nice to have some balance with the babies. |

My 3 almost 4 yr old ds plays with dolls sometimes with his sister and cousins. He liked them more when he was younger though. To be honest, right now he likes playing with big sis's barbies too. In his defense though, he LOVES his cars and other "boy" toys!
My 12 month ds will hold and love on a baby doll every once in awhile. He probably would more if he was able to go into sis's room more often. |

I believe that boys should be allowed to play with dolls. Someday they will be fathers and learning now to be gentle with a baby is a good start. We have babies that once the clothes are off you can't tell if they are a girl or a boy, so the kids deceide day by day what the baby will be.

DH had a My Buddy doll when he was little and he loved that thing. He still talks about it.
Personally I don't think dolls are a big deal. I tease my BIL all the time because he's so, ah, phobic he won't let his DS even touch a doll. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. One time he took one away from D and I laughed. He said something like, well you won't let yours play with cars or GI Joes or something like that. I just looked at him and shook my head and said of course I will! My brothers used to beg to play Barbies with me. These are also the boys who would strap firecrackers to their GI Joes they didn't like anymore to see what would happen. Dad still finds Joe body parts every now and then embedded in the lawn. |

Nikki and you let them play with your barbies? THAT was a risky game!

Nah. I'm the oldest and they've always known it. They knew what they'd get if they blew up a barbie. We were vicious kids, lol. |

I am a big fan of letting boys (and girls) play with WHATEVER they want (safe of course!)
I had a nephew that LOVED to carry a purse around. Drove his Dad nuts. But that nephew just loved to collect things, and it was too hard for him to get stuff (and his hands!) in and out of his pockets. He eventually loved his backpack for the same reason. Dolls are great too and all my nephews have played with dolls when expecting a new baby in the family.

My son has an old cabbage patch doll of mine and a stroller. He loves to take his dolly for a walk in the stroller. Lately he has been nurturing the baby more- possibly because my friend has a new baby and he sees her doing it. He also has a kitchen and loves to cook for me.
He has cars, trucks and trains also. And balls and a tricycle. I don't see a problem with dolls or other "feminine" toys. I did not, however, get him a pink stroller. I did buy him a pink Dora umbrella, though, because he wanted it.

My oldest son had a boy Cabbage Patch Doll when he was four - my elderly aunts bought it for him because his baby brother was due any day and they thought he needed a baby to take care of, while I was taking care of the other baby
.My middle son had lots of friends who were girls when he was 3-4 years old (because all my friends only had daughters). So he played Barbies at their houses ALL the Time. In fact he got a Ken doll for his 4th Birthday. Of course Ken would shoot things, blow things up and get thrown all over the house. My youngest son wanted NOTHING to do with dolls, kitchen stuff or anything girly in any way. In fact when was in preschool he would only draw with blue and red and brown crayons (because yellow, pink, purple, green, orange etc. were "girl colors"). He also did not like ANY girls "except for you mom and Miss Ashley" (his teacher). Of course he's in 5th grade now, and girls still make him nuts. But I know in just a few years he will be crazy about them like his older brothers .

I really do wonder if extreme boyishness is genetic or something! I think it might be!

My son who is 14 mths. loves to carry one of the girls mini purses around!!! He puts it in the crook of his arm and off he goes! He has one baby doll and is not too interested in it. He is also ALL boy. He will have that purse on his arm as he is climbing.

Shy that is hysterical. I'm envisioning my little (all boy) boy with a purse climbing a tree and I think I'd be laughing (in a good way) for days! Even funnier would be watching the expression on my DH's face!
That poor kid wore Soccer Kits and NY Mets uniforms from the start. Even his TOYS are all boy colors and he carries a mini basketball everywhere. HE NEEDS A DOLL ![]()

My son has a Cabbage Patch Kid but he doesn't play with it that often. He plays with the stroller more often. It was pretty funny when he got his Cabbage Patch. It was the Christmas when he and his sister were 18 months old, and we got Cabbage Patch Kids for all three of our kids. The girls LOVED them, our son threw it on the floor and screamed "no baby!!"
