Birth Certificate Finally In!!!!

Hi all! It's been a while since I posted but I've been lurking around reading and watching the boards, dropping a note or two here and there. Anyway - I wanted to share the news that we finally received DD's amended birth certificate and it's FINALLY correct. After several mishaps with incorrect information being included in the final decree of adoption, then incorrect information being included in the application to the BVS for DD's birth state it's finally done!! Now we start the process of applying for a SSN. Anyone have any hints to make that process go smoothly....or at least as smoothly as possible????

Congrats. The only suggestion I can make is to go to the local SS office instead of mailing it in. Then you can make sure the forms are filled out right from the start. That is what DH did for DD.

I second going to the local office. We mailed everything in for DD's SSN twice and it got lost both times.
One slightly irate trip to the local office (they're only there for two hours once a week), and it was done.
Good luck! Hope things go a little more smoothly from here on out.
