I read that several years ago - I liked it very much. A lot of the books I love are "hard to read" like The Lovely Bones (Alice Sebold). Also read Sebold's The Half Moon - didn't like that story very much, but I do like Sebold's writing.

One of my favorite authors is Margaret Atwood - Robber Bride and Cat's Eye are amazing.

This thread is making me think I should get off the computer and READ! I have The Time Traveler's Wife in my "to read" stack. I also liked The Lovely Bones, but wasn't thrilled with the ending. And John Steinbeck is one of my all-time faves, though I did like The Grapes of Rath more than East of Eden.

So happy to see other American Gods fans!!!
I also loved East of Eden, Poisonwood, A Thousand Splendid Suns (I talked outloud to that book too and wept like a baby), I Know This Much is True....all great. Another "so good I talked to it" book for me is Beach Music by Pat Conroy (he wrote the Prince of Tides as well)....so good.
Happy reading!
