Reliable info about drug exposure
Where can I find reliable, factual information about the effects of drug exposure? I either find stuff that basically is designed to scare a pregnant woman out of taking any drugs, or medical papers that I can't understand. I'm interested in both illegal and prescription drugs. Just trying to become more informed so we can make decisions about what types of situations to accept.
Right now, I'm trying to find any info about cocaine. The e-mom stopped a few months into the pregnancy.

Google pregnancy risk hotline. You will find centers with 800 numbers that are set up to specifically answer those questions.

This is a really good site--the drug info is on the "topics' page.
Topics Index - Center for Adoption Medicine They link to a medical article that you might take a look at too, it's a summary of risks with various exposures. I'm a physician, but I thought that most of it would be reasonably clear to a layperson too. |

Please keep in my kind that drugs will effect each child differently. So while I say research, research, research it still does not fully prepare you for the what if's. Just my opinion.

The website referenced above is what I used when I had questions about an opportunity. They have a hotline you can call and talk to a specialist about specific situations. I can't even begin to tell you how impressed I was with the experience.

Thank you all! This is exactly the type of thing I was looking for. Everything else was just "drugs are bad! Don't do them." or medical-eze. Thanks again!
