adoptive parents

I would like to see what others think on this subject.

Why are adoptive parents introduced as the adoptive parents of:

I have not been introduced in this manner, but have heard it several times. Why can't be just be the parents of:

We don't hear these are the biological parents of:

So whats your opinion?

I think people are just not educated in "adoption talk" and don't know how else to introduce parents of an adopted child.

I see it A LOT in the media and stuff, but thankfully I haven't seen it so much in my personal experience. My aunt and uncle have adopted two children, but they've just always been my cousins parents, no qualifier necessary (And it's pretty obvious the kids are adopted so it's not like they're passing them off as their own).

I personally always say Cupcake's Mom when talking about her Mom, unless I'm here and it needs clarification.

Education. I hate to read in the news "adoptive parents" of so and so. What does that have to do with anything?

My daughter is my daughter. She is going to be who she is.

Well I have never been introduced as this but I would say something that's for sure.

My mom actually was recently on a shopping trip and ran into an old friend, she said "These are her sons that she adopted."

After we walked away I said something & she felt terrible!! I didn't get upset because she meant it in a matter of fact way...proud way, not to set them apart.

People don't think, it's like when people introduce someone's brother or sister as a "half-sister" my dh hates this.

Ugh, I HATE this My SIL introduced me that way once (as my bros half sis) and my bro corrected her flat out - it was awesome! (I love my brothers ) He said, "She's my sister. No half. Just sister."

Heck yeah I am!

And yes, people are stupid. I choose to educate and lead by example.
