Help!
A friend of a friend of a friend wants to place their baby for adoption. She knew that we are about to start an adoption journey...She mentioned it to the friend who said she would pass on the information.
How would this be different? What if we are in different states? Is a homestudy still required? I'm in Georgia... My friend thought she was in West Virginia. |

DH and I are in a very similar situation. We still had to have a home study done but we were able to cut through ALOT of red tape. We got an adoption attorney to help walk us through it but we don't have to do NEARLY as much as if we were going through an agency b/c it's considered an "independent adoption".
I live in a different state but I can't imagine the laws would vary TOO terribly much. My suggestion...find a great adoption attorney ASAP. They will be able to answer any questions you may have & get the ball rolling. Good luck! It's so exciting! ![]()

I agree with the response above. Find an adoption attorney. In the end, with an independent or "targeted" adoption, using an attorney will be cost-effective, and will make sure you've covered legally. A good place to start looking for an adoption attorney is this websited:

Yep, this is how we adopted too. Still had to do the homestudy and all but it definitely made it easier. You'll need an adoption attorney to get you started.
