OT: Shoes for x-wide feet

TJ HATES shoes. The only ones I have found that he will keep on are the Robeez (which are truly ugly for a baby over the age of 1) and Pedipeds. I love the Pedipeds, but almost impossible to find w/o ordering online. I would prefer to try them on. Anyone have any suggestions on brands for the child with fat feet who hates to wear shoes? He won't even keep on Crocs!!!

Kelcee has wide feet and I have had to stick with Stride Rite. I watch for the sales and the buy one get one 1/2 of sales to help out with price. Online they have a sizing chart and it is pretty accurate.

I second Stride Rite. Just bought two pairs for A. both xtra wide. You can find the Pedipeds at Nordstroms; I think they have a pretty limited selection though.

I have two little ones with wide feet and I have to say Stride Rite has been our answer. Yes, they tend to be expensive but like the other posters said, try to look for sales. They are made very well and do last quite a while.

Okay, my kiddo has super wide feet. Stride Rite carries very few, if any, wide enough for him... Luckily we have a shoe store in town that carries shoes from AAAA to XXXX. I took him in there for his last shoes.

Good luck!

I agree with stride rite - if you ask they will even tell you which styles run to be bigger or wider.
Also keep in mind that different styles can be more accommodating than others. We have some right now that open completely up on the top - so we don't have to smoosh the foot in- then the tongue comes down and a velcro goes across. These have been the easiest so far.

My daughter has xx-wide feet. She gets blisters from Crocs her feet are soo wide. We stuck with stride rite for awhile. We have been able to put her in maryjane style shoes from Gap and Puddle Jumpers.

Have you tried Stride Rite? My son had really wide feet when he was 1-2 years old. I also remember having to buy him some xtra wide Nike's called Pico's or something like that. Thankfully, his feet "normalized" and he can wear regular shoes now.
