ICPC wait in CA?

Sorry to be a pest today! We're going to be presented for two situations now, both e-moms in California. We're on the east coast, so travel won't be cheap. Just wondering what time frame we might expect for CA, if we are chosen and she places. I've heard that CA is slow.

ICPC delays happen in your state ... that didn't comeout right.

I'm waiting for my FS's relative's ICPC to be done.

The other state is the one that took forever to do the homestudy and is now still not answering the questions and getting the complete results back.

My state isn't great but I think the state that has to do the homestudy and approve you is the one that typically has delays.

I don't know about CA but I've heard 6-24 months can be the wait time for ICPC

What? You would not be able to come home for 6-24 months? That can't be right.

We've been waiting for ICPC to be complete on my foster son since December. He's still with us because it hasn't been completed and approved for him to go there.

At this point we're hoping he stays - he's been with us for over a year.

But yes - I have heard of cases where children stay in foster homes for up to 24 months before it's complete and the child to move to the adoptive home.

Wow! I thought ICPC was like 7-10 days normally. Maybe it's different in foster situations?

Sorry Singlemom, that URL isn't allowed - it's a link to an adoption agency and we don't allow those on our forums, sorry!

SORRY - basically it was a link stating what ICPC was and the brief part I read said that it was less than 2 weeks - but it was about private agency adoptions and I'm under the impression now that's what you're doing.

Interstate Compact For the Placement of Children. Basically, when you adopt outside of the state that you live in, both the state where the baby was born and the state in which you live in have to make sure all the paperwork is in order for you to leave the birth state with the child and return to your home state. I can be a lengthy wait, but usually only 1 to 2 weeks at most.
