We'll be having a BBQ at our place tomorrow evening followed by a bonfire and fireworks.
DH's parents live on the lake down the road and the lake association always pays for a HUGE fireworks display every year. So we'll spend the day Saturday on the boat and grilling out, then fireworks at night. DD slept right through them last year so we'll see what she thinks this year.
DH is skeet shooting with his uncles Sunday and he's taking DD with him for his Mom to watch so I can sit on the deck and read for a few hours.

Crick, I've never been a sentimental 4th of July person until this year. My cousin is in Baghdad and I miss him terribly. Not to mention worry about him. He's supposed to come home on leave at the end of the month, so I'll be thinking of him tomorrow more than usual as it's a holiday we normally spend together and we're counting the days.

Lovemy2: This is the first summer we're not going on vacation to the U.P. We LOVE it there. Have fun for us too!

This is a busy time of year for our jobs so during the day Dh will be working(not really work per se-he has a fun job he loves! and gets paid) in the evening we will celebrate at the beach with a bonfire roasting hotdogs and marshmellows on a stick. Then watch fireworks over the bay as the water reflects the display to have a doubling effect of lights. It is truly a beautiful sight!

Yes, I too get teary eyed during the festivities!

Well - we are doing a first. Usually we go up to Lake Tahoe (2 hour drive) and go camping. But, this year we are leaving at 5 am tomorrow to drive to Idaho (a 12 hour drive). We are spending the week in a cabin and we better get there before fireworks! I love 4th of July! I do not think we will make a habit of driving all day July 4.

DH is taking our youngest nephew to a team roping for two days. Since DS is only 3 months and it is too hot to be outside for long periods of time, we will stay home and enjoy our little community's firework display. I will also be on calf watch- we have three on the ground and several that are close.

Crick~ Yes, I tend to get teary watching the fireworks- I have since I was a little girl.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th!

Since the 4th of July has become Katie's favorite holiday, we are making a tradition of attending the Grass Lake parade in the morning. We'll then go to the park late afternoon and have a cook out, play, and then watch fireworks. Last year was a blast, this year looks to be even better.

Kinda hard to make a big deal out of the fourth when your husband is a Brit....

But I really do love it.

Heart Same old thing for us

We'll be in the hospital with my son, happy that he came through his surgery SO well. We'll be loving the fact that due to his rerouted blood flow, he now has warm extremeties that are no longer blue! We'll be loving that his has stable oxygen saturation (in the 70's-90's!!!) for the first time in almost 8 months.

Before Cameron was born, we used to go to Julian CA for the 4th. Beautiful little old gold mining town. They had a great parade, great food and beautiful scenery. Wonderful memories.

Wonderful...I'm so happy to hear this!!

As far as our plans...we went to a party last night (till 1, I'm exhausted) and we're hitting another one this afternoon/evening on the lake. Ty loves swimming. Their house is right on the lake and has a bridge that leads over to a little island. I love taking pictures at this particular house, they have a big wooden swing, and I got some beautiful pictures of my nieces there last year. Looking forward to some nice pictures of Mr. Bear this year.

Last night we got home and put Ty to bed and he was starting to make his wake up noises, so I got a bottle and pulled him into bed with us while he slowly woke up, and DH and I talked about this time LAST year.
I don't think at this point last year, I ever could have imagined where we would be now. We were sort of TTC still so we were ready to be parents, but even now, it's surreal. I was folding cloth diapers the other day and said, holy cow, we have a son! DH looked up and said, I know, be quiet or you'll wake him up. It was nice moment

Happy 4th to everyone, and I hope you are able to spend it with those that mean the most to you.
