Blog question

I was keeping journals when growing up and really feel like doing a blog now... just so much to say about the babies!

I'm wondering though, would it be considered ok, considering the adoption isn't finalized yet, or should I wait until it's done? I'm wary of even posting pictures right now.

Also, if you have a blog, any blog site you recommend?

Thanks!

Wordpress.

"Considered ok" is subjective based on the contract you have with your adoption professional.

It is either outlined specifically and states yes or no or not addressed at all. If it is not addressed at all, then you are free to post pictures.

Our agency is very cool. The owner told me the other day I should do a photo shoot with DS. I'm a former model and she thought we would look good together.

We also since her a birth annoucement and she loved it. She wouldn't care about posting pic's or blog.

Wordpress.

I have also started blogging although our adoption is finalized. The one great thing about wordpress is you can password protect the pages and blogs so that when you add pictures the reader must contact you for the password. That makes it easier for me as my site was a public site before i changed carreers.

I have a family blog with tons of pics of our DD and never really thought it would be a problem. Unless your agency specifies that you cannot publicly display pictures of your child before finalization, I'd say you're safe.

Our DD's birthmom also has our blog address. We invited her to check it if she wanted to see some other photos or updates in between our letters.

I think this is a great thing for bparents!! I know it is VERY appreciated in our family.

I like Wordpress for it's features but find it finicky. Blogspot is much more user friendly but not a lot of features. For the record, I just switched to Wordpress b/c you can protect individual posts which is nice/almost neccessary at times.

I agree elledarcy - I would LOVE to be able to see pics and updates of Cupcake in between letters! (But I know her Mom doesn't blog But it's SO great for those that do!)

And yes, love, I have the passwords - and she IS! haha

I use wordpress too - I never had a blogspot one though so I've never noticed it was finicky - maybe because I have nothing to compare it to! haha

I rarely post pictures and never of our faces anywhere except private forums. I blogged all the way through our second placement and looking back, it is an incredible documentation of all that we went through. It will be a good record for him someday. I started shortly before our DD's first birthday so there isn't as much of a record (although I have a private journal of alot of that time).

I use blogger. I probably won't change although I agree with Oceans the password protected feature of Wordpress is very attractive as there are things I will not share in detail about what is going on, esp with my kids' other families. I do like blogger though... I find it easy to post, edit and add stuff.

Even if you're only posting a couple of sentences a day it could be good documentation of how your kiddos are doing. And I harvest the blog when I send update to my kids' other families and add those entries to the letters so they can see things happening in real time. It's my personal space so I don't share it all. I would LOVE for them to have access if they wanted to a blog separate from this one that was private. Then I would post pics and updates all the time, if I knew they had access to the internet. They both have said they don't.

I would LOVE to see more pictures of Supergirl!! but Supergirl's mom doesn't blog, not that I know of.
I use wordpress. I find it really easy to use and like the password protect for individual blogs.

I LOVE blogspot, but have not tried wordpress. I have heard that blogspot is much more user friendly. With blogspot you can also block who can view your blog. Well, actually you can list up to 100 people who are allowed to view it. I think those 100 have to be blogger members though. I have mine blocked from showing up in a search engine and blocked from blogspots search too. We are waiting to do fost/adopt. I asked our worker if we would be able to post our kids pictures on our blog. She asked her superviser and she said it would be fine. But just to let all the workers involved know we are doing it. We have not yet done the 100 names only. We will though once we are placed with kids. Oh - and you can have it so that anyone that adds a comment has to be approved by you first. Blogger will notify you when you have comments by email then you can read it and approve to post it or not. Or you can not have any comments available for public to view. Sorry - that was a lot of info. PM if you have any questions.

Blogger/blogspot

We just did our first post on Blogger/Blogspot last night! We have it password protected so only people we invite are allwoed to view it. I don't think individual posts can be limited though, just the entire blog. Yes, it would be nice to have some post private, but really, then everyone who visits the blog will be wondering what you posted that you don't want them to see - and be paranoid it's about them!!! So far we really like Blogger!
