If you meet an emom already working with an agency...

are you required to go to her agnecy? Here is the situation. We have a friend who was approached by a potential family. Their teenage daughter is due late summer. She is already working with an agency to place the baby. Our friend declined the match b/c they work together and she was uncomfortable seeing the family everyday. So she thought of us! And with our permission was going to talk to the potential bparent's about us. She said we would get along so well with them! We are just starting our journey into domestic again and were going to go with the agency that we adopted our oldest from.

Shy Bear, I don't think because an emom is working with an agency she is "required" to go through them.

You may be able to do an independent adoption (this is not allowed in my state which is an "agency only" state) if the emom wants this. Or if you decide to go thru the agency, they should handle it as an "identified adoption" and charge less fees (we recently were looking into a potential "identified adoption' situation).

Good luck!!

In our case we had been with an agency for over a year when we were introduced to our son birthmom through a friend. She had already established a relationship with another agency and really liked them. I felt it was more important for her to keep that relationship so we quickly transfered all our paperwork to her agency. They only charged us the placement fee so it was very close in cost to our original agency.
