Yesterday afternoon we received two e-mails from our agency asking if we would review two different Social Summaries and see if we would be willing to have our profiles shown to each of them. We said definately and gave the go ahead.

Well, this morning I get a call from the agency saying one of the BP came in and went through the profiles this morning and without a doubt chose ours!!!!!!!!! They didn't even want to pick out a 2nd choice because they felt so strongly about us!!!!!!

Friday we are going to do a phone interview with them and then we will meet with them sometime next week at the agency and maybe go out for lunch!

I need advice! What do we talk about with them, what are things we should stay away from, do we take pictures with us to the meeting, I'm even wondering what to wear?!? They are a really young couple. 18 years each and from what I've read they are very much in love, they just don't have their lives together enough to take care of a baby.

Oh ya, she's due in August and it's a Girl!!!!!! We are so excited!!!!!!! I can't believe it happened just like that. Keep your fingers crossed for us that we are able to be relaxed and calm on the phone with them on Friday. I'll probably be bundle of nerves.

What to wear? My advice is to dress casual but put together. When we first met DD's bmom, I wore jeans and a cute sweater; DH wore jeans and a golf shirt.

We saw "the other couple" as they were leaving and we were getting to the agency for our match meeting. They had their Sunday best on and looked very uncomfortable. DD's bmom is 16 and wore baggy sweatpants and was barefoot. The "other couple" came across as "way too old" in bmom's words. They were only a year or two older than us.

Just relax and be yourselves. If you are headed into an open adoption, it will be hard to fake it for the next 18 years.

Congrrat! I remember being in your shoes like it was yesterday. First, relax or atleast try! LOL Remember that they will be just as nervous as you are and I have found that it is best to just let them know up front that you are. We took pictures of our family, home, pets with us to our first meeting and an extra of dh, me and our two boys for her to keep she really seemed to like this because it gave her something to look at and get to know. Our daughter's birthmother was 17 when we met her and we wore casual clothes,she had on a pair of pj pants with a tshirt. You don't want to come across stuffy or uncomfortable with who you are. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Congratulations!!!! Just be yourself and the social worker from the agency will probably kind of lead the phone call, at least they did ours. You'll do just fine!

Like everyone else said......just be yourself. When we met our DD's bmom we talked about everything from our families, our hopes and dreams for the baby, to our favorite movies and books. We spent the 1 1/2 hour meeting just getting to know each other. It was nice that we all felt comfortable enough to just talk. It didn't feel like we were being inspected or probed for answers by which we would be judged.

Congratulations! As others have said, this is a nervous time for everyone so try to relax and be yourself.

For our first meeting, DH and I wore nice jeans. I wore a sweater and an embellished jean jacket. DH wore a polo shirt with a sweater over the top. I think it is a good idea to dress nice, but not over do it.

As for conversation, the two clinicians helped get things started and kept things moving if there was a lull.
