OT/ Cheap airline flights
My uncle passed away this morning and I may need to fly to his funeral. We always drive when we go visit, but I may have to go alone and I really don't want to drive 500 miles by myself.
I have never flown before, so I have no clue on how to go about getting cheap tickets. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated! Also, is there anything I should be aware of? Hidden fees, that sort of thing? Thanks again! |

First of all, I am sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you.
If there is a Southwest Airline hub near you, visit Southwest Airlines. As for flying, I have had to travel many times but things have changed. Be prepared to check everything in that you have. Don't take drinks with you, buy them once you have past security. Wear shoes that are easy to remove for security check in. |

After checking on line for pricing, you can also try calling the airline directly and mentioning that you are flying for a funeral. They will sometimes give discounts for that (i.e. pricing as if you had made the reservation 7 days in advance). On the return flight, you may have to show paperwork (like copy of a death certificate) so make sure you ask.
I too am sorry for your loss...

Thank you both so much. I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers, as well as, your advice.
I found the cheapest airline is Southwest(great advice finallyamom). I am a little afraid of flying but I know that God is my protector and will be with me regardless of where I am/ what means of travel I choose. I will just have to keep repeating that over and over!!! |
