2008 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces

If you work for any of these companies, you are very lucky. After seeing this, I plan on contacting my HR department again to convince them it would be great for job retention.

If I found a company that reimbursed more for my adoption I would almost switch jobs for baby #2. I received a 2000.00 reimbursement. That did not even cover my trip. I work for a big financial company so I am tempted to research some of these top 10 financial companies for adoption and maybe make a change or get a part time job at Wendys. :-)

Wow that is a great list. I wish I could move and do another adoption with some of that help. My ex's work does offer adoption fees but only $3000. But, that is still better than nothing.

Timberland

I am trying like mad to get an interview at Timberland as we speak. They have a few openings, but so far I haven't gotten a call. They also have on-site daycare and let you visit at lunch. I NEED to work there! I e-mailed my resume a couple weeks back and left a message with HR on Friday. Hopefully I hear something tomorrow! Everyone pray for me!

I got $2,000 in adoption assistance and DH's new company give $2,000 or $3,000. That'll almost cover the fees for adoption #2, so we're good with that.

Hmmm - I work for a competitor of some of the listed companies and our financial assistance program is comparable but we must fall short on the amount of paid leave. We received $5000 in financial assistance but only receive one week paid leave for each placement. I'll be sharing this list with one of my colleagues responsible for work/family life balance programs to see if the company is willing to "pony up" and get on the list. We're already on the Top 100 Companies for working mothers.....why not make it to the Top 100 adoption friendly also.....seems a consistent interest.

My husband's company used to have fantastic adoption benefits - paid leave & financial assistance - not as great as some on that list, but still good.

The company that his company merged with had good enough benefits to make the "top adoption-friendly companies" lists in the year before the merger.

Then they merged. And now neither of them has any benefits at all for adoption. I've never quite understood that. :/

Maybe I should go to work for the #2 ranked Citizens Financial (I live in RI). My job gave us no assistance (it's a multimillion dollar company). I had to take 12 weeks FMLA with no pay. In addition, I found out later that I could've taken an additional week (RI state law is 13 weeks) and was not told by my company that it was available.

But in the end, all that matters is that I have my SON!!!

Does anyone happen to know if Citizens Financial is a parent company of Citi Financial? Ahem, Rob?
DH is trying to find out because he literally just started a job at Citi Financial yesterday and if it's the same company......

My DH's company reimbersed (sp?) us $5000 of the $5300 we spent, but no time off. Luckily, I am a SAHM so it didn't really effect us that way.

The company I work for *ahem* offers 1) No financial help 2) No time off (only 2 weeks for people who give birth) and we don't have FMLA.

*sigh*

Dh got nothing. No money, no time off. Oh wait, he was allowed to take 12 unpaid weeks. because we can afford it... right.

So he's out of vacation time for the rest of the year.
