s/o Does your adopted child look like you or your spouse?

Spinning off on the question of who looks like who. And how about tastes and such like both me and my child detest olives or...? I will start with me and ds who has a mole on his back in the same place as mine and goes through the body to a large looking freckle on the front side of the body. He also has elbows that hyperextend like mine and his face and eye shape are very similar to mine. His similarity to his adopted father is they both are very tall. Thought this might be fun to compare what God has done.

We have twin boys, who although they have similarities to their birth families, my son walks, talks and looks just like my husband. They have the same cow lick in the back of their hair. They tan the same. His twin looks just like me with his lighter hair color and fairer skin coloring. He has the same interests that I have and learns the same way. They both have a little blue vein at the top of their nose and our new daughter, also adopted, has the same vein. Also, she looks just like me as a baby, my mom just keeps saying how she acts just like me too. It is very funny how these things happen. I think in our case, their birthmothers chose adoptive couples who had similar characteristics maybe, but definitely God had a hand in each of our adoptions. We have been so blessed!

Everyone says our oldest son looks just like my husband - people who know and don't know about the adoption alike.

I have to say I just don't see it. Sure, they are both tall and have blue eyes, but that's about it...although others claim they have the same features, coloring, etc.

As for similarities in habit and taste, both boys are a mixture of both us and their firstfamilies...It's really cool to see the things they share with all of us! We love saying "oh - that's just like DH...and oh - that's just like "C"

It really makes me look at them as individuals as opposed to extensions of myself and my husband. They really are amazing little guys!

I get that Katie looks like me all the time, especially in the eyes. It wasn't until after I spoke with the bfather that I learned that we share some common heritage, so that may be the reason.

I do get that Kelcee looks so much like me. She shares a lot of how I was when I was her age too. My mom is always asking "are you sure you didn't give birth to this child?"

Our lil Princess is actually related to my husband (his great-neice)! So she has ALOT of his family traits and its scary how much they look alike. But its funny because when we first got her she had dark straight hair, and now her hair has lightened a lil and curly...like mine. We put a pic of me as a baby and her both of us with huge smiles...and we look so much alike its a lil scary. and EVERYONE says that she has my personality (poor lil girl--she will always be in trouble)! Its amazing to me how her physical appearance matches mine so much!

Well my son looks just like me, light hair, very similar in our faces even acts more like me than his dad, more reserved than my dh is, even tho they are inseparable.

My daughter looks so much like my dh that it's scary. And when people do find out they are adopted, hard to not know when we are trying to adopt two more and keep losing babies, but anyway, when they find out, they don't believe it! LOL.

Don't you just love what God can do?

Last year for mother's day I got a home made card that my daughter made at day care. It had a poem in it that said:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Isn't it amazing
I look just like you

She is Ethiopian and I am caucasian so we look nothing alike. But it made me giggle.

Everyone says how much our daughters look like my husband (even their birthmom!). It is pretty weird...same color hair & eyes, same great skin that tans when they just *think* about the sun (while I'm about the same shade of white as a beluga whale).

A couple days ago I went in for some blood work and the technician commented that A1 looks so much like me "you couldn't deny her if you wanted to". I smiled and said "yeah, she's my little "Mini-Me"... no need to ruin the moment by bringing up that we don't share a shred of DNA!

A1 does look like a perfect blend of both DH and I.

A2, with her blond hair and blue eyes doesn't look a thing like us but she has my same personality. Always looking for the bright side of things.

Hopping over from the Guatemala board....

My daughter and I are opposites (her black her, my blonde, her dark eyes, my light eyes...) however, we do have the same facial expressions, laugh, and many of the same behaviors. It is very sweet when someone comments that she looks like me - when I have her hair just right, she looks like her birthmother, which is also very sweet!

Several people have told me that both kids look like me. The only thing we share is being pale and having chubby cheeks I think some people, who know they are adopted, try to say it to be nice, thinking I "need" to hear that or something, but I couldn't care less if they were purple with yellow spots. I don't need them to look like me to love them or feel secure in public with them.

Recently we have also had many people remark how the two kids look SO much alike. I guess since they are both pale with blond hair and blue eyes, maybe they fall into the same appearance category. But they share no genetic link and very little ethnic background. Whatever.

Both my child and I look at lot alike. We both have dark brown hair and big brown eyes. We also have cleft chins, wiggly ears, and wavy hair(mine is wavy, hers is curly). From time to time I get comments that "my daughter looks just like me" from strangers. Depending on my mood and the circumstance sometimes i will tell folks that we adopted her. This happened to me last week when we were at fast food. After I told the man that my child was adopted, he fell silent.

My adaughter and my biodaughter have a birthmark on the same leg -- in the same exact spot... our adaughter looks so much like my husband that I teasingly have asked him where he was the night she was conceived. Her birthmother has actually said to us that our adaughter (her birthdaughter) looks exactly like both of us! We are blessed!

Our sons look alot alike even though they are not bio-related and they both look like DH. No one believes they were adopted. I think it is so cool in a way. My older son talks and acts like me. He even has the eye-roll down pat. Nice. Lol.
