Homestudy Update

I know it varies from agency to agency, but what does it basically involve? We had to do psych evals and physicals the first time (18 mo. ago), will they need to be done again? Will we need to do all the supporting documents again (bank statements, references, all that), or is it just a visit and updated fingerprints? What was yours like?

Thanks,
Jenny

We had a meeting with the SWs at our agency and they asked us various questions about our family over the past year -- it was a friendly, easy conversation. We needed to provide updated physicals from our MD. In the intervening year if any new adults are living in your home (e.g., my oldest dd turned 18, so she then counted), they also need fingerprints. Otherwise, no other docs were required in CA. Every state has its own issues, though, yuck. susan

We had to repeat our physicals and our FBI clearances. We then met with our SW to discuss any changes that had occurred in year prior. It was not stressful at all, and nothing like the original HS process.

my homestudy agency finally got back to me with a list of stuff I could get before we meet in June - all new application (seriously?), new copies of birth/marriage certificates, we have to read 2 books and do book reports, and she didn't say anything about new FBI clearances, but I figure we'll have to do them. That was the one thing I was expecting.

At least I have extra copies of our birth/marriage certificates from our last go around with them (less than 2 years ago, I would think they could just pull them out of our old file, but apparently not.)
