Would you use a brand new agency?
There is a brand new adoption agency that has opened
WWYD? Oh, and of course we don't know HOW long our wait will be since they have just opened. |

Candace, I have had to heavily moderate your post - most of it violated our rules. Please check out: http://forums.adoption.com/general-a...ease-read.html for more information.

Depends. What are they charging? How many other people are signing on? What services will they offer you? An expectant mother? What is their prior experience with adoption? Who are their principals? (Who owns it? Do a google search of anyone prior to signing up for any new business that wants money.) Are they willing to take money at match time? (They should, as they have NO track record.) How much time and effort do you want to exert to decide if these are good people?

Neither would I. Even if they have wonderful experiences and references from previous positions with other agencies, I would be too worried about if they knew what they were doing. I'd also worried that if they didn't get enough business may file bankruptcy and I would lose all my money. But then again, at one point in time all agencies had to start somewhere.

I think it would depend on what combined experience and credentials the agency employees have. I would also have to think it through, are they so new that they haven't had the opportunity to place ads in the phone book, newspaper and get the word out about them? Would they be out there for birthmothers to find them and contact them? On the other hand, if they are brand new then the odds are good that there aren't many other couples that birthmothers would be able to choose from. I do have to tell you though that for us, it was very important to choose an agency that had a good reputation and the best way to find out about them is to talk to other couples who have used them and birthmothers also to be sure they got adequate care. Good luck with your choice.

To play Devil's advocate, if the person who started the agency is experienced, he/she will be looking to build a name in the adoption world, so may work harder than one might otherwise to assure you a successful adoption.
