OT - double stroller

I'm quite desperate finding a double stroller so I can finally get out of the house during the week.

We got a double snap'n go from craiglist, only to find out later that they sold us one with a broken strap. I'm going to get a replacement strap from baby trend, but it's going to take a while to get here, and, quite honestly, I hate that thing anyway (I felt it was going to fall over all the time).

So, I'm looking for a standard double stroller. Preferably side by side, not too heavy, pretty compact when folded (my trunk isn't huge), but that would be ok on the grass... and I don't really want to spend over $350 either. And it needs to recline enough for my two month old.

So far my choice is the Baby Jogger City Mini Double, but it doesn't seem to have any child tray... I was looking at the peg perego aria and the combi twin, but I don't think they would go so well on grass...

I'd really rather not have to buy two strollers...

Can someone give me any advice? I've been asking around but haven't got any answer really...

I've got an old jogger side by side and I have to tell ya that over the years, I've had exactly THREE double strollers...yeah, three! Like you, I didn't like the front and back type, because they became too difficult to manuver---too heavy.
This one is old...but we live in the country, and nothing can tackle the rock roads like the one we have now. The only problem I've ever had in using it, is trying to get through places because it's side by side; but I suspect that's been remedied over the last few years by making it more compact, KWIM?
Good luck.

Sincerely,

Linny

I don't have one (no need for one, yet), but my sister has a Maclaren and absolutely LOVES it. It might be out of your price range though.

I have the Combi and love it. The only thing is, I don't think you can put 2 infant seats in. The babies would have to be in the regular seat. How is their head control? I think Marco was about 3 months when we started putting him there with a blanket around him for support.

Could you get a single (maybe borrow one for a few days!!) and put one kid in a sling/wrap/front carrier?

I have the side-by-side Peg. I cannot attach an infant seat but it lays flat. I love it! It folds down very compactly and is very light also!

**I think there is a newer model that allows one carrier to attach on one side, but not certain about this.**

LOVE LOVE LOVE my In Step Safari Double Jogger! It saved my sanity with 2 babies. When they were little, as soon as things got hairy I would pop them in the stroller and off we went. Sometimes I walked around town for hours .
Pros: Front wheel swivels or locks (for jogging or off roading), in swivel position it turns on a dime, it practically pushes itself, it folds with one hand, seats recline fully, not small but will fit in a standard trunk, it is the same width as a standard wheel chair (so no problems getting in/out of any handicapped accessible buildings).
Cons: Occasionally have trouble in stores that put racks in the aisles or old buildings that aren't handicap accessible (then I get mad and leave anyhow), seats don't sit up straight (would be nice for older kids), no cup holders for adults (but can buy some generic ones that clip on for $6).

I intended to buy another double for shopping if needed, but never needed too. We used this stroller almost everyday when the boys were little and we still use it alot (they are 2). It handles great for the occasional jog and even on the trails at the park. I think it costs a little over $200. Best $$ I ever spent!

We've been through several...tons...zillions of strollers and we HANDS DOWN LOVE our side-by-side Maclaren!!!! It is by far the BEST stroller we've ever had and we use it daily!

Are we allowed to post links? This is the one we bought and last year this is the exact model that Consumer Reports said was the best double stroller. It's also a phenominal price....2006 MACLAREN RALLY TWIN BABY STROLLER SCARLET BUBBLES- FREE SHIPPING

Hope this helps! ~stacy
