Matched and waiting for summer babies

Am I alone or are there others out there who are matched and waiting for babies June, July, August?

We are adopting our 2nd and were just matched April 4th with an emom due in August. Longer of a wait than I would like, but we are excited.

MRSKT - YEAH!!! I'm so glad that you only have 2 months to wait till the birth!!! Is the expecting mom in TX? Our 1st son was born in TX and it's great because the TPR can be signed at 48 hours and is irrevokable.

Glad to have someone to wait with - although I'll be waiting 2 more months after you.

She is in Tx - Fort Worth in the dorms We are supposed to go meet her next week! SO excited!

We were very pleased with the 48 hour irrevocable consent possibility, but it looks like the dad is going to put a kink in the works because he doesn't want to sign. He doesn't want the baby, and he's not supporting the e-mom, but he won't cooperate either! So the baby will probably have to wait out the 33 days for the putative father registry in a transitional home.

I'm sorry to hear that! We had to wait for the BF registry in TX too, but we were able to keep the baby with us. Will your agency not let you keep the baby during the wait or is it your choice?

So far they haven't given us that option... I guess we'll just have to see how it goes!

Tell me about your match?

Baby is due in August (actually on our son's birthday - isn't that bizzare?) We have not been able to meet the emom yet since she's in the process of relocating. She will only live 2 hours away so we are hoping to meet her in person a few times before the baby's due, but we'll see what she wants.

We have a little boy, 19 months old. We are hoping for a girl, but healthy is what we want the most.

For some reason, I'm very nervous, guarded, doubting. With our son, as soon as we were matched I never thought twice about her choosing to parent instead of adoption until the last week before he was due. I was excited and preparing. This time, I'm afraid to be excited. I think I feel like the first time everything went smoothly and it certainly can't happen again - like a have to endure bad. I don't know.....

I'm hoping if we get to meet the emom I'll feel more like it's real and start to get excited.

Remind me again - is this your first child and/or adoption? Are you getting the nursery ready? having showers?

I know that feeling - I have it too! I think when I actually SEE our e-mom next week it might feel more real. This is our first baby and adoption match... we've had 2 miscarriages and years of infertility problems, so I've kind of resigned myself to every single possibility of something going wrong! We were kinda hoping for a girl first, but we're excited either way! This just means a whole new set of shopping! (My cousin has a one year old girl and gave us a bunch of girl clothes, but we don't have much in the way of boy clothes.) We do have our nursery pretty much set up - just have to get the girly things packed back away now that we know we're getting a boy (hopefully!). I feel pretty good about mom sticking with it, but dad's not cooperating with the plan at all - I really really dislike the thought of our baby spending the first month of his life with strangers! *shrug* But what do you do? Just another in the long line of things in this life I've learned I can't control!

Katy

I'm sorry that your mom is not as supportive as you would hope.

We had 3 showers while waiting for our son. Why not? We knew that if this situation didn't work out, we would still have a baby at some point.

I had waited so long for my baby that I wanted to celebrate. We have showers for moms whose babies may not live long after delivery - nothing is guaranteed. Enjoy the moment as much as you can. I know there are alot of people who say "no" showers and that's what works for them. everyone is different.

I know - that's kind of my feeling- even if it were to fall through, I want to enjoy the process as much as possible!

Will you get to find out ahead of time what this baby is?

Anyone Else?

Thought I would jump in and revive this thread....

We met the emom yesterday, and things went really well! In fact, it was really comfortable, and I feel good about things. We are going on a double date next week with her and her bf! Who would have imagined a couple of weeks ago!

I am curious who everyone has told, and if they are shopping yet? We told our parents, and like 2 friends. We have the necessities before the call just in case of a baby born situation, but I did buy a little boy onesie at Target! I could not resist!

Anyone else?

shower option

I'm not 'expecting' (though I am waiting, waiting, waiting), but wanted to jump in and offer an option to the baby shower. After we adopted our son we had 2 "sip n see" parties... come sip something tasty and see the baby! It was a baby shower with the baby as the main attraction. I never wanted to listen to pregnancy stories - couldn't participate in those conversations - or jinx any possible situation, so it was the perfect solution for my friends and me. So get to planning those parties, for before or after!

Oh,oh,oh! I get to join this thread!!!
We were just matched this week. :-D
We are waiting for a baby girl, due June 27 in CA.
Our wait was pretty short as we just went "live" with our profile at the end of February.

me too

I'll jump in here too. We were matched last week with emom in TX. It seems so surreal, and most times I'm afraid to even say it out loud to ANYONE.

She will be having her baby in late July, scheduled C-section...everything sounds good, but I'm soooo nervous for something to happen.

Our first child was adopted from Guatemala, and SO simple as far as waiting until our name came up, assigned a baby, waiting for travel date...This time seems so not stable (but sometimes I wonder if reading too much on the forums is good or bad... )

I don't want to say anything just yet to anyone, but at the same time I want to burst out to everyone! Know what I mean??

For now, we'll try to wait patiently and hold onto hope!
