Got the call... panicked!!!
Finally, two years after starting the process... we got the call. Boy and girl twins, born yesterday... Birthparents have placed before and it's in NJ so it's 99% a guaranteed thing.
We're going to see them tomorrow... We don't have anything ready for twins and I'm so panicked I feel I'm going to throw up... Any tip? |

My suggestion? Breathe!
Seriously, just gather the essentials (diapers, wipes, blankets, pack & play) and worry about the rest when you get there. Thank goodness there is a Wal-Mart or Target almost anywhere you go! Congratulations! Hope everything goes well! |

Go (or better yet, send someone) to Target/WalMart and get:
2 carseats 2 Boppy pillows Newborn diapers wipes A few packs of drawstring gowns--they often come 2-3 to a package " " receiving blankets Newborn pacifiers A dishwasher cage (to wash the bottles and pacis) A box of Dreft (to wash the drawstring gowns and blankets until you know about allergies) Some bottles (don't buy too many until you know what they are going to take to.) What to Expect the First Year (if you don't already have it) Pretty much everything else they will either give you at the hospital, or you can buy later, or when you get the inevitable calls from friends saying "What do you need?", you can hand out assignments. That'll get you through the first few days. Breathe. It will be OK. We brought H home to almost nothing as well---about the same amount of notice you got. Congratulations! |

Such exciting news! Take your cell phone, cell phone charger (plug in, not just your car charger), laptop if you have one and camera. You can buy anything you need when you get there. Babies are very forgiving! When you are waiting around (if you have to) and/or when you get home, register on baby sites for gifts and tell your friends you can have a baby shower once your CHILDREN are at least 7 pounds. The hospital will give you formula (they'll start them on one type), one of your most essential items. As a pp shared, breathe -- and get ready mentally! Have a wonderful trip, susan

Thanks!
It will be a few days at least before we can take them home... we're just driving to see them tomorrow (it's 2 hours away). We might have to stay there a few nights also. We have most things ready thankfully (been taking dust in the nursery for over a year now), we just need to buy some extra now! I'm just so excited, totally didn't see it coming! Not sure how well I will sleep tonight! |

Congratulations! I'm sure your wait felt like forever, but, it's actually less than a year per baby! Not too bad when you think of it that way! Enjoy them!

YEAH!!! Congrats!! What a blessing!!!
Since you will be staying in a hotel room, bring bottle brush, dish soap, and even drying rack for the bottles. They also make these disposable baby wash cloths (huggies) you can get them in the grocery store. Alcohol wipes for the umbilical cord would be a good idea too. The hospital will give you a diaper bag and formula samples. So, you might want to wait to see what formula they have been on in the hospital before buying any. (NJ has a 3 day waiting period for TPR, so you will at least be there for 3 days.) Congrats again! |
