Getting discouraged...help!
We are currently waiting to be matched...have been since June 2007. We haven't even had one call.
We do, however, have a large family (6 kids...3 adopted, 3 biological), and we know that can be a bit of a turn off for potential birthmoms that are looking at our profile. Also, we are a bit limited because we can't afford fees over $15,000 (preferably $10-12,000). We are open to any race, gender and special needs. I'm starting to get very discouraged. We are trying to reach out a bit to more agencies...I would love to hear who you all have had experience with (through pm, of course)...especially, those with a little larger families. Thanks! Emily |

Have you considered an older child? Working through your state or county system may be free. Or if you own your homestudy and can use it across state lines, start searching online for your child using the online photo listings such as AdoptUSkids.org . Someone may be waiting for you right now.
Good luck. |

Buccasmom..I know how you feel. I'm discouraged, frustrated, annoyed...I think you get the picture. My homestudy was approved in August 2007 and I've just been waiting. I'm adopting domestically, and am willing to adopt an older child, but the wait continues...
Try to hang in there--I know it'll all be worth it in the end! |

I pm'd you about our agency and hope that's helpful! We adopted twice and have three children -- we waited 9 mos the first time and 24 the second, although we did have lots of contacts along the way. It's hard when you have a lot and they aren't yours; it's hard when you don't have contacts. We always said we only needed one -- and that's the truth, just the RIGHT one. Yours will happen; it's hard not knowing when. Best of luck, susan

I've taken the liberty of pm-ing you. My first thought for your long wait is NOT because of your family size, but rather your location within the country. Maybe so, maybe not.....but I hope the pm is helpful.
Sincerely, Linny PS.....We will only accept AA situations. The only time our wait was 'long' was when we were specifying gender...and the wait was 18months. Otherwise, our wait times have only been 3-4months. Hope your wait is shortened considerably. ![]() ---Linny |

Thanks so much for the encouraging replies and pm's. I guess the wait is so hard because our first 3 adoptions were so quick...all AA! We waited 6 months for our first little boy, but had 8 contacts in those 6 months....what a roller-coaster, but at least we had contacts. We didn't even wait for our second little boy...the agency called us, and we weren't even finished updating our homestudy, and we waited 3 days after sending in our our profile for our little girl.
We feel so blessed with these 3 precious children, and I hate to complain or be impatient...I guess, I'm just anxious. |
