Umm, yeah same agency we used to adopt Cameron. Does this mean you are my competition????? I have referred so many people to the agency but now I pause because I think, "That is one more family we would be 'competing' against." Isn't that terrible? I know it is best for the expectant parents to have lots of famlies to choose from, it is jut harder on me! How long have you been officially waiting? She received our books on Friday. I talked to her today and she has already shown us! (Not sure if we were not chosen or if no choice has been made. For me, less is better. I don't want to know anything until I get the call!) PM me and we can keep tabs on each other!!!!

OMG! She got our books on Friday too! You were shown already? I wonder if we were too? Now I am freaking out! My stomach totally did a flip flop when I read that I guess a little friendly competition is good I am with you, I have probably given 5-6 recommendations for the agency in the last month. It finally gave me the push I needed to get those books in! I was all settled in for a good wait and then everyone on here started talking about getting rooms ready and packing bags. I got nervous and told dh we should probably get some clothes and the carseat ready, just in case. Good luck and keep me updated... this should be FUN! ![]()

older mom? - i guess thats me too. i just turned 42 on my birthday in december. i dont have to be labeled and older mom, do i? i told my dh that adopting these last few babies is my mid-life crisis. its better then an affair. right? after 12 kids, i think he is starting to wonder. we are matched and waiting for the birth of a baby in july. i know looooooong match. but it is my sons bmother who is pg again, so it is worth the wait. so i will probably be the last one here to get my baby. i cant believe you girls are all getting ready for another baby. i am not sure ive done anything. the middle of feb is emoms ultrasound so i think i am waiting to see if we get a boy or girl. just yesterday my dh said *we need to get this baby farther away from us at night*.. meaning the 1 yo we have in the nursery attached to our bedroom needs to move a little farther away. he sleeps all night, but does make all kinds of noises. it doesnt bother me, but does bother dh. i told him i looked around the house and couldnt find an empty bedroom anywhere. i did tell him my daughter has an empty bedroom at her apartment we could move him to. (she's 21 yo). funny thought. shes actually old enough to be his mother. so, not sure where this new baby will go. a co-sleeper next to my bed for a few months and then maybe an older child will have moved out and we can make some room adjustments. i am happy with whatever!
on the emom news - ours was put on bedrest on sunday. she has really high blood-pressure. anyone dealt with anything like that? right now her husband - yes they are married and parenting 2 children - doesnt have a job so he takes care of their toddler. what happens when he goes back to work? will i need to/have to pay for a babysitter? so complicated. anyone have any experience with that? better go pick the kiddos up at school. everyone have a great day. ps. sure is funny to see some of you who were on our old thread in 06/07 matched and waiting back here waiting again!

2manyks-
Welcome and congrats! Our sons bmom had high blood pressure and he was delivered early @ 32 weeks because of it. He is fine, but spent about a month in the NICU. I don't know anything else about it, but if she is already having trouble with BP then you may want to plan for an early delivery. I feel bad for her on bedrest. I think that would have driven me insane ![]()

Thanks!!
Thanks for the well wishes!! Still don't know if delivery is Monday or Tuesday - hopefully will find out today. It is taking every fiber of my very being to not pick up the phone and call the agency... I DO know that they will call me the moment they have any info.... But still it is killing me!!! Patience is not a good virtue of mine...
Now we are heavy into the throws of picking a name. We were set on a boy name, but are kicking around a few girl names... So far the leading candidates are Megan Kai (Kai is Hawaiian for ocean - my brother who passed away 2 weeks ago was a fisherman) Megan Patricia (Pat was my mom) Noelle Patricia Jamie Patricia.... Our last name is Italian - ends in a vowel (even though we are mostly irish) and the birthfamily has 2 other kids who have pretty irish names - so we were thinking of continuing that.... A boy would have been Sean... Suggestions?? God I want an update!!! Mega

chris - a month in nicu? that sounds like a nightmare to me. our emom lives out of our state - across the country in fact. how did you work that all out? did you not take custody until after the baby was out of nicu or did you visit in the hospital for a month. i have other children and i dont know how we could do that. ugh. this is not sounding good at all!
mega - i bet you are bouncing off the walls! i so remember that feeling. remember to breath.

Mega-
I vote Megan Kai! I like different names. Things are so different for me this time. Last time we had names all picked out and this time we have a few "possibilities" from the names we picked out before. I haven't even thought much about the name. Maybe because last time many of the birthmom's wanted to name the baby or at least pick a middle name. And it just so happened that our son's bmom had given him the perfect name to use as his middle name. We had tried to come up with something we liked and couldn't. Sure enough the name she gave him was a perfect fit ![]() I'm so excited for you to be picking out names!

Sorry to scare you. Hopefully it won't be an issue. We didn't get the call until our son was 3 weeks old, so we only spent a week with him in the hospital. The nurses were so amazed with the huge progress he made once we were there with him. I think he probably would have come home sooner if he had "his family" there to help him sooner Maybe if your baby comes early bmom could help them in the hospital and call you when they are getting closer to discharge. Of course you will want to be there, but it might be more practical. Hopefully, you won't have to worry about it at all.![]()

We had good news this past week!! For a recap, we are just sort of...well...thinking about starting #2 but haven't done anything yet. I called an adoption agency (thank you Marci & Srusse) & I REALLY like them, plus they are very reasonable!!
Soooo....I talked to dh & I think we are going to start calling around for homestudy's in our area (agency is out of town, we are in TX). I'm not sure if I can get a licensed social worker or if I have to have an agency...I have to check on that. I have to call the agency back, but they said I can begin the application process even before I get my homestudy done. So I might do that! The only thing is we are going to move whenever this ^%(*&#$(*& house sells....so I don't want to get a homestudy done to just have to do another one. We might just get a homestudy & find somewhere to get it done, then start filling out the paperwork where we can. Ugh...it's the paperwork that I'm not looking forward to! It's too funny how many people on here were some of the "oldies" on the waiting thread. It's great that we are at it again! I personally think this time is much better for me, I'm much more patient. But I also think that has to do with the fact that I'm starting another one earlier, so I feel like even if I am not placed by this time next year...I'm okay. Ya know? I'm just excited that this is ano option to do another one. We were starting to feel like we would have to wait another year or so before we could afford it!! ![]()

Vogi-
That is awesome! We are also using the same agency as Marci and Srusse(this is our second time with them)! We also moved during the process and it was no big deal. PM me if you like. Definitely keep in touch and let us know how it goes. It is really fun for me to talk to others who are waiting with the same agency ![]() Good luck!

That would be cool if we are both waiting for babies from the same agency at the same time!
My stomach totally did a flip flop when I read that
I was all settled in for a good wait and then everyone on here started talking about getting rooms ready and packing bags. I got nervous and told dh we should probably get some clothes and the carseat ready, just in case.
