Jumping in Here

I'm jumping in here because we dropped off our formal application at our agency today. Our caseworker from our adoption last year isn't there anymore so we're getting a new worker. And tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary for getting the call about our daughter. Friday is our first Gotcha Anniversary.

But my husband's biological clock is ticking and he wants to have all of our kids before he turns 40 in Septemter. We got our tax refund, paid off the adoption loan and turned in our application!

We had a bumpy road to adopting our daughter. We waited 20 months, had two failed matches and nearly went over the edge on the emotional roller coaster. I'm saying out loud right now that I DESERVE a smooth ride this time!

So next time I go to the store, I'm stocking up on Mr. Clean Magic Erasers so I can get our walls ready for our homestudy visit, whenever that might be!

How long did it take the rest of you to get the homestudy update done? We have had one done before but the social worker who did it was super slow!

Last time we just chatted in the general chat room. It was fun. Met some cool bparents and adoptees. I would say we should start there and then move to one of the other "adoptive parent" rooms if we want. I don't remember what all the different rooms are, but we should be able to see where people are from the general room.

8:30 EST/ 7:30 CST it is If I'm late, just imagine me negotiating with me 2 year old to go to bed NOW!

That is Great! Welcome to the rollercoaster. I agree you DESERVE a smooth ride this time. We had a bit of rocky road compared to many people last time too. But in retrospect is wasn't that bad. However, I'm hoping for a quicker ride this time too

We had fantastic and fast workers both times for our HS. The first if I remember, took just over a month (3 visits) and the update (one visit) only took a couple weeks!

And welcome! I hope the road is smooooth for you!

Oh yeah, I forgot. Our original homestudy took about a month. I think the official final paperwork from the update took a while, but it didn't really matter because they did it after our son was placed with us. So we really weren't in a hurry, just needed it for finalization.

Sorry about abandoning chat last night. I need a new computer. It kept freezing up on me... I had fun though!

HOpefully next time we schedule a chat my kids will cooperate and go to bed!

On this day (not date, but Friday this weekend) 2 years ago, we got "THE CALL" for our son Troy. 1st call to ask if we could be shown, 2nd call that evening to say we were chosen and TPR would be Monday. We met him for the first time on Tuesday. I've been trying to think of what I did and felt that weekend. I know I went to the rodeo, which we are doing tomorrow. But, that is about it. I don't remember being very preoccupied with the possibility of getting our new baby that week. I was actually quite suprised when they called to tell us TPR was signed and we should come to get them.

I sent an e-mail to the agency this morninc to check in. It has been about a month. Last time, I checked in once a month. It made me feel better, but was not often enough to drive them nuts! She replied and said they do about 50-60 placements each year. Currently there are 30 families waiting, but only 6 of those are open to race (as we are). And, she said she showed our book on Friday, but emom has not yet made a decision... It is exciting to hear that, but I did not want to know that. Now I will think of nothing else for days!

Wow Marci! That is really encouraging! Buby dust, prayers and good vibes in your direction!

Nothing new here, but I did pick up a tiny little cloth diaper for #2 and ordered a couple more that I found on cheap clearance. And DH agreed that it was a good plan to get a few things, if it was a good deal, this time! That is HUGE since last time I was NOT to buy ANYTHING before hand and all the stuff my cousin handed down to us - basically all the big stuff you possibly need for a baby - was dismantled and stored in the closet with the door to remain closed untill a baby was home! I did sneak a couple purchases into that closet though! hehe

my husband is the same way. he doesnt really see the need to buy ANYTHING baby related until he is holding the baby. its tough on the moms cause we have a new baby and are exhausted and then need to go out to get stuff. someone else could always get the stuff for us, but whats the fun in that?

sorry about missing chat, but we were having a party and couldnt very well skip out on the guests to stare at the computer, lol. maybe next time.

our emom is having her ultrasound next week - if she makes it this time. i wanted to go to it, but will be on vacation. so she is going to call me, if my phone works. i want to go shopping sooooo bad. i have a SIL who is due may. we are going to have a girls weekend and shop our hearts out before the babies are born.

question. this will be our emoms 3rd placement. i know she still has the option and just might change her mind. but what do you thnk the odds are? i feel so relaxed about it all. totally counting on a new baby. so you think i am setting myself up for a huge dissapointment? usually i protect myself more then i have been. i guess only time will tell.

My second adoption, of Hanna, went soo incredibly smoothly that I worried the entire time that something was going to go horribly wrong!
I was matched ASAP- so there was no wait time. TPR was done. ICPC was filed. I kept bracing myself for some horrible news but ICPC took less than a week. Finally, I got the call to go and pick her up and I was still in awe of how fast everything progressed.

I'm back on the roller coaster for child #3 and I don't think this ride is stopping anytime soon.

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT
Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org

THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09.
Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.

Wow, Marci, to know that you are being shown is exciting!

I was shocked to see that your agency does 50-60 placements a year. That is HUGE! I think that last year our agency had 7 placements.

I also will buy more things ahead of time--last time we had NOTHING! Well, bottles.
