How much milk
So, how much milk is your 2 1/2 year old drinking these days? Kelcee has cut way back. She doesn't really eat cheese and will eat yogurt on occasion so not sure.

Well, Castle is 3 1/2 but she cut back on her milk intake at about 2 1/2. She now drinks about 12-16 oz a day but she will eat an entire block of colby jack cheese if you let her! I think that as long as her diet is well rounded she should be fine.

From what I've read, we should be aiming at 2 c per day for a 2-year-old, with replacements of yogurt if that's the preference. My oldest couldn't drink milk so once I was no longer breastfeeding her and because soy milk wasn't known much then (20 years ago), she had calcium supplements, yogurt, cheese, etc. I'm big on supplements anyway because of the all-over-the-place diet of my 2-year-old! susan

yeah, I agree with the 2cups thing, even if you have to put choco or strawberry in it. Here is a link to the most recent news article on a study finding children aren't drinking enough. It gives guidelines for children in every age range, and suggestions for what to put in milk that won't be as sugary but would give it some flavor if they don't like the taste. Hope it helps : HealthNewsDigest.com

My DS, who is almost 4, is a dairy freak. It is a HUGE part of his diet. He drinks at least 20-24oz of milk a day. He pretty much only drinks milk. He loves cheese and yogurt and eggs and puddings, etc. I sometimes worry that he is drinking too much milk!

Lovebug, my son loves his milk too. He would rather have milk than anything else to drink. I believe it's better for him than drinking sugary juices, sodas and tea. He just turned 3 and is very healthy, ideal weight, and alittle tall for his age.
By the way...he is my "lovebug", lol, thats what I always call him.....just thought I'd share that! |

I am so glad to hear it!!! Most other moms I know always ask me how I get him to drink it...and I am like, I can't get him to NOT drink it! There are days that I have to literally tell him, "No more milk!" It is bizarre! But on the other hand, our almost 1yo is lactose intolorant! How's that for irony!
