Wording an adoption birth announcement in local newspaper

I need help with how our birth announcement and my son's adoption should appear in our local newspapers.

Thanks in advance...

Blessings, Michelle

Friends of ours recently worded it as "joined the family" when they recently announced it in the newspaper. Those who were close to the family understood the wording. Those who weren't probably didn't notice the subtle wording and passed right over it.

You could say something like "Announcing the newest addition to our family."

We've done this several times (putting announcements in the newspaper when the adoption was finalized). We word it this way:

M and Z Smith announce the adoption of a son, (name of child) on 30May 2006. (Name of child) was born on 18april 2006 and weighed X lbs.
His grandparents are A and P Smith of XXXX and J and T Wildly of ZZZZ.
(Name of child) has three sisters and one brother. (And for the rest of the announcement, we've always noted the names and residency of the other children ((We also have grown children too.)) )

Hope this helps in some way. And, BTW......we were always proud to mention that our children were adopted in joining our family.

Sincerely,

Linny

We're in the "joined out family" or welcomed in our family" or "placed in our arms" camp.

For our Christening invitation we invited people to share int he joy of the Christening of our daughter....

This is basically how ours was. We also added the adoption date and the baptizmal date and godparents.

Our announcement ws short and sweet, and looked just like any other birth announcement in the paper, except that he wasn't born in the local hospital. So it was something like, "Samuel F. B**** was born March 7th at ABC Hospital in Nameofcity, ST. He is the son of James and Amanda B****."
