OT-Dyson Vacuum

Does anyone have a Dyson vacuum? If so, do you like it and think it's worth the money? I don't have a pet, but a two year old is close enough!

have it and LOVE it... I swear I will never own another vacuum... the only slight issue I have with it, is we have brand new frieze carpet which is a little bit longer and its a work out to vacuum it since the suction is SO good... lol. I use it on the wood, tile you name it and it sucks everything up... I use it until the wind tunnel thingy is full and its good to the last drop...

hope that helps !

Court,

LOL I am thinking of a Dyson too, BEGGING DH to get one actually.

We have a black lab and off white carpet. Enough said. And also a near 2 y.o.

Does anyone know if a Dyson uses ANY kind of filter? Or is it strictly an empty the cup kind of thing?

B/c, no lie, we go thru a filter EVERY month with our vacuums!

Also, this is timely b/c our VC just died this past weekend. An 80$ cheapo one. Lasted 3 weeks!

Gimme some ammunition for DH PLEASE!

The Dyson doesn't get good ratings on Consumer Reports, but I hear that a lot of people that have them, love them. That's why I asked here.

We have brand new frieze carpet too and it is high, but I guess it will just be good exercise if I get a Dyson!

I have one and love it. I have a frieze and it does fine. It makes me really happy to vaccum and I didn't think that was possible. No filter to change, that's all built in I think.

I have one also and love it---it is 3 years old now and works as though it were brand new. No filter. Suction is great---almost too good on a couple of our rugs! We have hardwoods w/ area rugs and I use it on both. Love the attachments for the stairs and furniture, too.

It takes a little getting used to all the things it can do---it's like one of those transformer toys.

I have the purple dyson, which is meant for those with pets. I've had it about 5 years and LOVE it! It has a lifetime HEPA filter which you just rinse with water every 6 months. Dysons are expensive but since buying it, I haven't needed bags or any filters or any belts. My old hoover wind tunnel constantly needed belts! I have never had a problem with it, it does the job well. You will not believe how dirty your carpets are when this thing starts sucking...gross, yet fascinating at the same time, when you see what comes out of what you thought was a relatively clean carpet. I love the dyson and wouldn't buy anything else!!! (Secretly, or sadly, depending on how you look at it, it has actually made me enjoy vacuuming!!!)

So if I don't have pets, would I want the yellow one? I would like to be able to use it on hardwood floors too, if possible!

I have it and LOVE it! I have the purple one and it is so nice when you have kids because it picks up everything. Sometimes you can get the Dyson vacuums half off if you go to Lowes or Home depot in November or December and they will sell the floor models for half off as they are getting in their new models in. Its worth a try next year....

We have one and love it!!!! We have the "Animal". It's the purple one. I love all of the extras it came with. We have three kids and two long hair dogs. I think the purple one is better then the yellow one. I think it comes with more tools.

I also have one and love it. We have two Goldens and lots of hair so it is great. You don't have to have dogs to get the purple one, they have several different models. I would suggest shopping around and researching the different models. It is so worth the money! I vac. almost everyday because it gets my house so clean!

court--thanks for starting this thread. Our baby K will be mobile soon, and I have really started thinking about this.
We need a good one too for our laminate floor--lots of places where the grass doesn't grow outside, and dogs track in lots of gritty dusty sandy soil! Sweeping doesn't get it all up, and vacuuming yesterday was better, but still left fine dusty particles.

I have the purple one and LOVE it. No inside pets...several kids though. My step mother has the yellow one and I just didn't believe her when she would go on about it. It really is an amazing machine though! I've had electrolux and some of the other really pricey machines and this one is by far the best.

Another Q:

is it heavy? Can you haul it up stairs/vacuum the stairs?

We have one, and while I can't remember the exact weight, I don't have a problem carrying it up and down the stairs.

It's a great vacuum and I LOVE it!
