Sadie is home.

I am a proud Adad and felt the need to start a new thread rather than just update a previous post - I hope this is ok.

Sadie was born at 7:28 Nov. 8th. She weighed 6lbs. 11oz. She is wonderful - and I am a very happy Daddy!

We were called by the bmom when she got to the hospital. We made it there in time and she asked my wife to be with her in the delivery room. My wife held her leg and was able to cut the cord. We were able to take the baby (Sadie) home 22 hours later. We were given our own room in the hospital and the staff was great! They treated us like we were the birth parents. We got to keep her with us in the hospital that first night after she was born. We made every effort to give the bmom all the time and space she needed. We even spent a few hours all together for the babies first feeding and to just talk. The next day after the birth the bmom was feeling better and wanted the baby with her. She kept Sadie with her for almost the entire day until we were discharged. My wife and I just waited in our room and around 5:00PM she came into our room to hand her baby to us. Her face was red and it was obvious that she had been crying. She made several attempts to hand the baby to my wife and would begin crying and kissing her baby. Finally she handed her to my wife who was also sobbing. After that she said that she had to go and I could hear her cries as she walked down the hall. I will never forget the heartbreak I could see in her eyes and I will make sure that my daughter knows just how much her birth mother loved her. I knew that this would be a very emotional and difficult time but nothing can prepare a person for this until they go through it. It is such an odd awkward feeling when you are so excited and yet feel so bad for someone else at the same time. The bmom even bought gifts for Sadie - a bouncer and some outfits. My wife had very good communication with the bmom before the birth - they would talk on the phone or email at least 5 times a day. We were very happy and relieved that she called us and emailed us again today. She said that she was really happy for us and excited that Sadie would have such a good life with us. She asked us to send her more photos when we could (We have sent her probably 15 photos as I write this) and said that she was ready to sign the TPR as soon as a court date was set.

While I know that this journey is not completely over and we are not the legal parents yet, I have completely fallen in love with this little baby girl. I hold her in my arms and can only think how lucky we are to have her and how thankful we are that her bmom chose us to be her adoptive parents

Congrats! She is gorgeous!

We love the name Sadie too; our beloved lab's name is Sadie, best darn dog in the world and the love of our lives until DS came along...(but we still love her to death of course).

Wonderful! Enjoy this time; it really does go by in a flash.

Thank you for all of your kind words! It was great taking Sadie to church today (we are seventh day adventist) and showing her off. Our two boys (11 & 7) each want to hold her and help change her etc... wonder how long that will last. It is wonderful having a newborn again - I have forgotten just how sweet they are. I am also looking forward to raising a daughter!

I'm over from the Russian boards. Had read the post when I saw the name Sadie.

We have been in the process of adopting for almost two years and our boys named our future daughter Sadie. We had never heard the name and since choosing the name we are hearing it a lot now.

Anyway, from a future mom of a Sadie, I wanted to Welcome home to your little Sadie. Congratulations.
