Can we......?

Money is the only thing keeping my husband and I from adopting our second child. Our son's adoption was very expensive and we won't be able to do that again. Is there any way we could adopt a newborn for under $10,000?

DSS. Through child and family services in your state. See what it takes to get certified. I'm sure it is a minimal cost.

Good luck!

You can adopt domestically...without going through the state foster-adopt system......for under 10k.
It may take awhile longer; it may require that you have to do some real searching; it may also require that you are open to some special needs to a point, but it is do-able, I think.
Consider going through an adoption attorney. They generally do adoptions for less than an agency; and if you choose one that networks with other attorneys, you can have a broader area in which to 'search' in, KWIM?
I do know of a Christian agency that charges a flat fee of 10k....which doesn't put you at the 'under 10k' range, but really close.
We are basically in the same boat. Two years ago, spending a little more than that would have been alright; but our finances have changed considerably, and we just couldn't do it. We're even updating our homestudy at this time, but only have a little of the money set back for a baby!
If you are aquainted with an agency or attorney too......consider asking them if they will take payments. I know some agencies/attorneys will----if they know you.
Best of luck.......I know with fees raising SO much over the last two years......it's getting harder, financially.

Sincerely,

Linny

There are several options out there for 10k and under. We have adopted five times and the most we have ever paid is 8K which we were able to do in monthly payments anytime before finalization, and we got that back with the tax credit so it worked out. Like Linny said... research. We worked with an agency thats fee is under 10K no matter what kind of adoption. We also just recently adopted out of state from a NY agency for around 2K because the baby's birthmom has some medical issues so the baby is considered at risk. Research research research.

Yes - It's doable. Our agency has fees on a sliding scale based on income, with a max placement fee. We were at the higher end of the spectrum, and adopted for around $12K, INCLUDING our attorney fees.

Definitely check into your DSS / County Agency. Those adoptions are usually free or close to it.

Agencies

Hello everyone !

Could you please PM me what agencies/attorneys that you used? I live in Alaska and already called an attorney here but they do not do the matching.

Thank you !
