I was wondering for you those that travel or that have traveled to pick up your little ones, what was the best route to take economy wise?

Book your flights online? Along with the rental and hotel reservations?

Call airline, hotel and car rental and do seperately? I have heard that Southwest is the most reasonable but not sure on hotels.

OR..have a travel agency do this?

Well it all depends. . .

Our son was born while we were on the phone with our agency while they were presenting us with the situation. We had to book a flight and a hotel for that next morning. Booking the flight was a pain! It was a mid-size town we were flying to and the tickets were over $900.00 each! Luckily my mom had a ton of skymiles and she purchased the tickets for us with those. One recommendation I can give you though, when we purchased the tickets they told us to purchase roun trip to return later than we thought we would. (When waiting for ICPC you never know when you'll get to come home.) They said it would be $50.00 to change each ticket. When we went to the airport to change the tickets I explained to the agent why and he waived the fee!

Also, with regards to the hotel, you can PM for a website that my agency gave us that helps find great prices on hotels near hospitals.
