Adoption books

I am working on Cameron's Christmas wish list and I wanted to put a few adoption themed books on there. I put the Jamie Lee Curtis book, but I don't know about any others. Advice, please?? They do not have to be age appropriate right now. I just want to start accumulating them so we will have them as he grows. Thanks!!

I bought The Tummy Mummy by Michelle Madrid-Branch for the Munchkin this past summer. I loved it.

If you're interested in a personalized adoption book for him, PM me. I've got a great site! (customized illustrations and words)

The book, "How I was Adopted" by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Maxie Chambliss is a good children's book. I also found an adorable book for young children entitled, "Pugnose has two special families," written and illustrated by Karis Kruzel. It is about open adoption. (Pugnose is a mouse, BTW, who is adopted through open adoption.)

I've never heard of the Tummy Mummy - I can't wait to find it!

Our favorites are the Todd Parr books. It's Okay to Be Different is a great one. It's a favorite to my nieces and goddaughter too, because of the bright colors. They don't even realize it talks about adoption, as the overall message is a great one to apply everywhere!

A Couple More Titles

I know this is an old thread but thought I would add a couple more books:
- A Mother for Choco, Keiko Kasza: about a bird who does not have a mother finding a new family
- Sam's Sister, Juliet C. Bond and Dawn Majewski: about a child who's sibling will be placed for adoption

I also second the vote for It's OK to be Different, by Todd Parr. Jack actually pays attention to it rather than trying to eat it (he's 9 months).

Child #1: Is that your mother?
Child #2: Yes.
Child #1: Why is she white and you are black?
Child #2: Because I am adopted, and black people have more melanin than white people do.
Child #1: Oh, let's go on the high bars.

I have both of those books and they are both wonderful. I especially love "A Mother for Choco". It has such bright beautiful pictures. And even very young children can understand the story. It really touches on how a child doesn't have to look like his family in order to belong.

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT
Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org

THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09.
Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.

A Blessing From Above (this is a "golden books" book about a kangaroo with an empty pouch who adopts a bluebird baby...it gets me every time!).

Marci, I think Cameron is biracial? I just got a great book written by Karen Katz called, "The Color of Us." (Katz adopted a girl from gautamala). And Brown Like Me (a book by an AA girl adopted by a cauc family).

I also love A Mom For Choco, How I Was Adopted and Tell Me Again About The Night I Was Born.
