Unhappy Bumps covering DS body HELP

I realise this is an adoption website, but I am worried about my adopted son and am wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this.

My son is 6 months old, and 4 days after having his DaTP, Hep B, and Polo shot he broke out in a rash all ver his face, behind his ears, and neck, over the last few days the rash has spread to his back, belly, fold of the skin in his arms and legs. It so bad he has bumps on his eye lids and in his belly button. Also his skin has started to turn red. He hasn't been eating well the last several days, sleeps all the time, and is fussy. He also has gotten a runny nose and cough. At first we thought it was a reaction to peaches so we stopped those and a few days alter the rash was getting worse. We also stopped using a new skin lotion for ecezma the doctor recommended, but still it gets worse. He has had a low grad fever off and on. I am taking him to the doctor tommorow, but am wondering if anyone has experienced this before.

I would be concerned....and I'm glad you're taking your wee one to the MD tomorrow. While I suspect it isn't anything very serious; it's always a good idea to see the MD when ANYTHING is different from the norm!

(I ended up taking our very, very newborn baby to the ER two or three times before her first birthday. We had never had a baby THAT young; and so with just the slightest changes, I would worry. *shrug* )

But, it's always best to be safe, than sorry.

Please keep us updated.....

Sincerely,

Linny

Our ped recommends for eczema:

washing him w/ regular Dove soap (I'm currently using the sensitive skin kind - no perfumes/dyes) and using a lotion - either Lubriderm or Eucerin.

I am always worried about reactions to shots, have worried about food allergies, etc. Let me know what the doc tells you! Poor little guy!

Could be a virus my son gets a rash sometimes with certain viruses. Keep an eye on the fever

It sure sounds like an allergic reaction to the shots. But it also sounds like a virus. Of course I am not a doctor. But when babies aren't eating, sleeping a lot and fussy, you KNOW something is wrong.

I hope he feels better soon! Please keep us posted.

Regards,
Julie

WOW! I hope he is doing better! Sounds like hives or something. It is sad when the little ones get something like that and we have no idea what it is. But at least next time you can tell the doctor in advanced that he got a rash from the shots and see what he might allow you to give the baby before his next round of shots.

God Bless,
Summer

I'd have your doctor do a strep test. My son breaks out in a rash just like that every time he gets it. No sore throat, very low fever, fussy. When he first got it, the doctor didn't want to test for strep but I pushed it. I'm glad I did, it came back positive. Good luck and keep us posted.
