Parents to be health requirements?

DH and I have been researching international adoption and I noticed looking through some requirements of the parents from different countries that they mention something about alcoholism being a no-no?

My husband has been to treatment for alcohol, voluntarily, and I was wondering if this could cause any issues in the adoption process. He no longer drinks and I need to know if this will cause any problems.

Any information will help ....Thank you

As long as you can demonstrate that he has been sober for a long period of time and has addressed his problem, it should be okay. The agency may make you get a letter from a doctor, psychologist, or sponsor confirming that he is no longer an alcoholic. I would ask the agency before signing with them and they can tell you what their expectations are, what different countries have as expectations and what you can do about it.

I know that with the homestudy agency we used we were able to call them and ask them many questions before we even signed with them. They were wonderful. I would suggest doing that with a few agencies.
