Signs of Motherhood
For some reason, every once in a while I just smile looking around my house. The last two years have changed the look of our lives sooo much, but it's also changed the feeling in my home...the atmosphere is so different.
I smile when I open my cupboards and see all the colourful tupperware cups amongst my mugs and glasses.. I love that I have a small children's library full of wild adventures and silly rhymes. I can't help but laugh when I see all the crusty candy-slobber all over my toilet seat from potty training with jelly beans... I am terribly proud of my fine art collection that I display lovingly on my fridge....I think my fridge is white underneath all that.. The little hotwheels cars hidden in my sheets while I try to make my bed.. the small towers of colourful blocks all over my living room.. the fact that my tv is permentantly set on TreeHouse.. All signs that I am a Mom |

Oh, I know exactly what you mean. The thing I love is finding my daughters' blankies and bunnies tangled up in the sheets on MY bed - because they like to crawl in and snuggle with us!

It is such a warm and fuzzy feeling when they give you that grin and come up behind you and hug your leg, or lean over and plant a wet one on you. Ahhhhhhhh motherhood is so worth the wait.

I can relate so well. I love the change within my house also. I love the children's bathrooms with the blue and pink step stools. I love their bedrooms with all the kid charms. Taped on our bedroom door going into our closet is my dd lastest drawing for her father. She hangs them there so he see's them when he gets up in the morning. I smile each time I go in and out of the closet. I love the kid plates and the bright colors, the little clothes I wash and care for. I love all the kid toys that take up my back yard and I especially love my mini van with the two car seats right be hind me. I love this new life. I love being a Mom. ![]() |

The whirlwind tornado of toys in my living room? That NEVER would have been ACCEPTABLE prior to becoming a Mom. The fact that laundry still needs to be done? And I haven't unloaded the dishwasher? And Nicholas pulled ALL of his books off the lower shelf and we just sat and read them... and didn't put them back?
I think he's good for my obsessive compulsive tendencies. He reminds me what it's like to be carefree. ![]()

I agree dd I love the colorful disorder on our home now. It certainly looks like a definition on love to me.
DD and I had the best time today removing every single alphabet magnet off of the fridge and tossing them all over the kitchen. If She learned how to put them on the fridge we would be in business. |

This makes me sad to read this thread. I loved seeing the child dishes, blankets, and toys. My daughter will be leaving for college in 7 days. It has been along time since she has been a little child, but her shoes, purses, or her things she doesn't put away are always somewhere around the house. I will miss this so much. Time goes fast so enjoy every minute.

My oldest was 37 yesterday and lives half way around the world from me. It seems like a month ago she was getting her first tooth, taking her first step, going on her first date ...
I feel so very, very lucky that I am getting to do this all again with my second batch of kids. This time, with a 3.75 year old and a 16 month old, I'm aware of how fast it goes and how soon they'll be driving and shaving and all that. While I can, I'm enjoying being startled by glow-in-the-dark dinosaurs in my bed and raisins sticking to my feet when I walk through my living room. I've had no greater gifts than my kids, and am so very thankful. |

I never thought I would say I love my mini van more than I did my Eclipse! I love how I can hold a kid in one hand while opening the back of the mini van and with the other hand and WHIP open the double stroller. Then put said kid in one of the seats...getting him buckled safely...all the while picking cheerios off of the other kid so that I can get him in the other seat!
I love how nobody who comes over to my house has a clue of how to open the cupboards or drawers...yet I can whip them open with the flick of a finger...oh those child locks! The same goes for the baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs...STOP, you are my prisoner! Especially when it is my mother in law with her...back when I had kids, we never even thought of things like that...a kid would just fall down the stairs and that was it...attitude! I love how people just watch me parent both my boys and think...you are amazing, I don't know how you do it. The truth is, sure it is hard at times, but I would not say I am amazing. I would say...I am a mommy!

I love that all the TP in the house sits ON TOP of the commode b/c DS may come along and just pull...
I love going into a restaurant and saying, "2 and a highchair". I love washing all the little clothes along with ours... I love DS' tiny little toothbrush... I love all the fingerprints on my (black) fridge... I LOVE being a mom.

I just had to jump in here and echo the sentiments of others. I LOVE being a mom! No matter what else I have achieved in my life, my greatest joy and accomplishment has been motherhood.
I know I have been blessed with two children. I am humbled, in awe and grateful to be given the chance to be somebody's mother. ![]() |

What a great thread - I'm tearing up!
I love that there are other moms out there who feel the same way I do... I love being able to walk down the baby aisles at the store and BUY things that I can actually USE now! I love seeing baby food in my fridge and freezer that I have made. I love seeing freshly hand-washed baby bottles on my counter. I love the small wicker laundry basket that is for baby A's clothes alone. I love the changing table/baby bath/bath tub/toys/diapers/etc that crowd our already tiny bathroom and make it super small and crowded! I love having a baby swing hanging on our tree branch. I love never wearing earrings and necklaces now - it shows I'm a mom! I love having sun shades on my car windows, so everyone knows I have a kid. I love feeling happy even when I am tired, stressed, worn out, hating work, running late or feeling just fine. I am simply happier because I am a mom!

I know what you mean, my daughter goes to college in 5 days. But I also get to enjoy all the 'baby' stuff because my oldest daughter has given me a wonderful grandson who is 8 months old and then there is my wild and adventurous 6 year old ason who had turned my soon to be empty next into.................. |

How about when you open up the bottom drawer to get out a pan and there are plastic farm animals in it!
