Adoption quotes
I am putting together an illustration for my daughter and would love to put an adoption related quote underneath. Does anyone have any good ones they can think of? I remember one about an adopted child comes from their mother's heart rather than her tummy -- but I don't remember exactly how it goes. I'd also like to write down who said it if anyone knows who it is.
I would love to hear any other quotes too! |

Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone but still miraculously my own never forget not for a minute you weren’t born under my heart but in it.

and I have this quote being "said" by Fleur Conkling Heyliger. Also, I found this quote on a website a while ago... The Gift of Life I didn't give you the gift of life, But in my heart I know. The love I feel is deep and real, As if it had been so. For us to have each other Is like a dream come true! No, I didn't give you The gift of life, Life gave me the gift of you. --- Unknown |

We found this when we started our adoption journey.
Natural child: Any child who is not artificial. Real Parent: Any parent who is not imaginary. Your own child: Any child who is yours to love. An adopted child is a natural child with real parents, who is loved.

Quote:
This is a poem (though slightly misquoted) by educator and aparent Rita Laws. It actually goes like this Four Adoption Terms Defined Natural child: any child who is not artificial. Real parent: any parent who is not imaginary. Your own child: any child who is not someone else's child. Adopted child: a natural child, with a real parent, who is all my own. Pat Johnston |
