Are you being solicited by Adoption Agencies on this forum?

Recently, we've had a rash of Adoption Agencies posting as clients to the AFPML and also PM'ing members offering 'feedback' on their agency - posing as a client.

Please remember that when researching agencies - ALWAYS do A LOT of research. Never rely on one persons recommendation of an agency - always look for more people who can back up the story!

Sadly, this 'agency' which is really a facilitator, has PM'd several people and I am getting reports.

If you are suspect - we'd rather hear from you and look into it for nothing then have one of our members be scammed by people who can't follow simple forum rules...

Might be a good thing too, for anyone who is asking about an agency, to 'check' how many posts the 'pm-er' has made. I know people often ask me about my own list of agencies, as well as opinions about possible agencies they're working with.
I'm not a facilitator, attorney or agency rep, but over the years, I've done a lot of homework. And, anyone who might doubt, could see that I've been posting for years (like several others here too).

I hope this doesn't get out of hand and can be remedied quickly!

Sincerely,

Linny

I agree Linny, I too have been making a lot of recommendations on our agency after being PM'd lately but didn't think much about it, just figured it was the warm weather making everyone think about babies

When someone posts, the thread gets moved up to the top (and therefore is more likely to be seen). If the person has nothing to say, but wants to move the thread up, they'll often say "Bump". :-)

Concern

I am fairly new to the list but not to adoption, we have a daughter adopted from Guatemala who came home in 2004. We have been talking about adopting again and are looking at domestic adoption this time. We would like to adopt a Hispanic infant. I know there are scammers, agencies doing things like this out there and such and I know you have to be very careful about what you post and what you say. I am on the Guatemala boards so I know how careful you have to be.

My concern though is for those of us that are real and are trying to research agencies, trying to find a good one, I have seen several post where people are asking about agencies people used and advice on agencies and they maybe are being Pm'd with the answers but it's hard to try and find info on agencies when it looks like nothing is being replied back. I know we are not allowed to talk about who you used and such on the boards. I have looked at the post about Agency Feedback PM list and looked at some of the agencies.

Can someone suggest a better way to research agencies and get peoples feed back on them? I know it's not good just to get one person's opinion on an agency, I'd rather have several opinions. I have had some people PM me about their agency and I am thankful for that. We're just having hard time with this.

Thanks, Susan

momtosami- What I did was look at the agency feedback list to begin with. OnceI narrowed it down to two, I posted on here asking for input. That was very helpful also because people who had used those two agencies but were not on the agency feedback list sent me PM's. Hope this helps!
