In my daughter's eyes is one of them. Another one is not so much about adoption. But it makes me think of my daughter.
Ok, don't laugh, but do you know (or remember) who Raffi is? Sarah loves him! There is a song at the end of his tape called "Everything grows." It goes something like: Everything grows and grows Babies do, animals too, Everything grows and grows Sisters do, brother's too, Oh everything grows Oh everything grows and grows mommy's do, daddy's too Oh everthing grows A blade of grass, a leaf on a tree... Anyway, it continues on this lovely path of things that grow. It chokes me up because it reminds me of my kids growing up, getting older etc etc. There is one particular son that reminds me of my son. It is a Jon Lennon song called "Beautiful Boy." For anyone who has a son, you must listen to the lyrics. My son is my darling darling darling beautiful boy..beautiful Justin. |

Celine also does a remake of Beautiful Boy.
I think the song mentioned before was Celine Dion, A new day has come....or A New Day...something like that |

I always like "Blessed" by Elton John:
Hey you, you're a child in my head You haven't walked yet Your first words have yet to be said But I swear you'll be blessed I know you're still just a dream your eyes might be green Or the bluest that I've ever seen Anyway you'll be blessed And you, you'll be blessed You'll have the best I promise you that I'll pick a star from the sky Pull your name from a hat I promise you that, promise you that, promise you that You'll be blessed I need you before I'm too old To have and to hold To walk with you and watch you grow And know that you're blessed |

From God's Arms
To My Arms To Yours Words and music by Michael McLean Dedicated to birth mothers everywhere. You are an inspiration to us. With so many wrong decisions in my past, I'm not quite sure if I can ever hope to trust my judgement anymore. But lately I've been thinking, 'cause it's all I've had to do. And in my heart I feel that I should give this child to you. (Chorus) And maybe you can tell your baby, when you love him so, that he's been loved before; By someone who delivered your son From God's arms, to my arms, to yours. If you choose to tell him, and if he wants to know, How the one who gave him life could bear to let him go; Just tell him there were sleepless nights; I prayed and paced the floors And knew the only peace I'd find is if this child was yours. (Chorus) Now I know that you don't have to do this, But could you kiss him once for me The first time that he ties his shoes, or falls and skins his knee? And could you hold him twice as long when he makes his mistakes, And tell him that he's not alone, sometimes that's all it takes. I know how much he'll ache. This may not be the answer for another girl like me; But I'm not on a soapbox saying how we all should be. I'm just trusting in my feelings and I'm trusting God above, And I'm trusting you can give this baby Both his mothers' love. (Chorus) We love you, birth mothers |

I love "I'd Give My Life for You" from Miss Siagon.
You who I craddled in my arms. You, Asking as little as you can. Little snip of a little man, I know I'd give my life for you. You didn't ask me to be born You, Why should you learn of war or pain? To be sure you're not hurt again, I swear I'd give my life for you. I've tasted love beyond all fear. And you should know it's love that brought you here. And in one perfect night, When the stars burned like new, I knew what I must do. I'll give you a million things I'll never own. I'll give you a world to conquer when you're grown. You will be who you want to be. You Can choose whatever heaven grants. As long as you can have your chance, I swear I'd give my life for you. Sometimes I wake up, reaching for him. I feel his shadow brush my head, But there's just moonlight on my bed. Was he a ghost? Was he a lie, That made my body laugh and cry? Then by my side the proof I see, his little one. Gods of the sun, Bring him to me. You will be who you want to be. You Can choose whatever heaven grants. As long as you can have your chance, I swear I'd give my life for you. No one can stop what I must do. I swear I'd give my life for you |

I know it's really supposed to be a love song, but Lifehouse's "You and Me" always makes me think of my little boy.
"You and Me" What day is it And in what month This clock never seemed so alive I can't keep up and I can't back down I've been losing so much time Cause it's you and me and all of the people Nothing to do, nothing to lose And it's you and me and all of the people and I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you All of the things that I want to say Just aren't coming out right I'm tripping on words, you got my head spinning I don't know where to go from here Cause it's you and me and all of the people With nothing to do, nothing to prove And it's you and me and all of the people and I don't why I can't keep my eyes off you Something about you now I can't quite figure out Everything (he) does is beautiful Everything (he) does is right Cause it's you and me and all of the people With nothing to do, nothing to lose And it's you and me and all of the people and I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of You and me and all of the people With nothing to do nothin to prove and It's you and me and all of the people and I don't why I can't keep my eyes off of you What day is it And in what month This clock never seemed so alive

"In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride, for sure. Heard it for the first time on the eve of my daughter's first birthday, as I pulled in the driveway after a last-minute errand run. Sat there crying like a baby as my daughter sat in her car seat, oblivious. That night I made a slide show of our first year with her, to the tune of that song, then showed it to our friends and family at her party.
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero I am strong and wise and I know no fear But the truth is plain to see She was sent to rescue me I see who I wanna be In my daughter's eyes In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal Darkness turns to light and the world is at peace This miracle God gave to me gives me strength when I am weak I find reason to believe In my daughter's eyes And when she wraps her hand around my finger Oh it puts a smile in my heart Everything becomes a little clearer I realize what life is all about It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough It's giving more when you feel like giving up I've seen the light It's in my daughter's eyes In my daughter's eyes I can see the future A reflection of who I am and what will be Though she'll grow and someday leave Maybe raise a family When I'm gone I hope you see how happy she made me For I'll be there In my daughter's eyes Made another slide show earlier in the year accompanied by Savage Garden's "I Knew I Loved You." Shared the slide show w/her birthmom who commented that she loved the song.

Edwin McCain ....
Hi everyone,
This thread is GREAT!! For hubby and I, Edwin McCain is out favorite singer/writer! He was adopted as an infant and, he has a song called, "Letter To Mama". The lyrics are: Letter to my mother Mama, how do I write the words to you You were the only one who loved me true But there's a woman that we don't even know She gave me life, then you gave me a home I love you, Mama But I want to tell her too Is that her little boy still loves you I close my eyes, does she look like me Does she need my help, is she cold on the street Am I forgotten like a bad childhood dream A B-movie actor on the black and white screen I love you, Mama But I want to tell her too Is that her little boy still loves you Is that her little boy still loves you Could I have seen her, I'll never know Maybe she's always been there watching me grow I wanted to tell her how grateful I am For giving me life, I've done the best that I can I love you, Mama But I want to tell her too Is that her little boy still loves you Her little boy still loves you This one always makes me cry, there is also "These Are the Moments" --- more of a love song but, we love or kids, con't we?!?! Lying here with you Listening to the rain Smiling just to see the smile upon your face These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive These are the moments I'll remember all my life I found all I've waited for And I could not ask for more Looking in your eyes Seeing all I need Everything you are is everything to me These are the moments I know heaven must exist These are the moments I know all I need is this I have all I've waited for And I could not ask for more I could not ask for more than this time together I could not ask for more than this time with you Every prayer has been answered Every dream I have's come true And right here in this moment is right where I'm meant to be Here with you here with me These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive These are the moments I'll remember all my life I've got all I've waited for And I could not ask for more I could not ask for more than the love you give me 'Coz it's all I've waited for And I could not ask for more I could not ask for more These are my songs, hopefully you will look for them and enjoy them as we do! I love every one of the songs posted here!
But, silly and simple, a song that I sang to both of my kids - just because they liked it - took on great meaning for my daughter as we fought to adopt her. You Are My Sunshine My Only Sunshine You Make Me Happy When Skies are Gray You'll never know Lexi How Much I Love You Please Don't Take My Sunshine Away

I sang "you'll be in my heart" my Phil Colins to both my daughters. When I heard it for the first time I just balled! It was actually the father/daughter song at my wedding also. I just love it:
Come stop your crying, it will be all right Just take my hand, hold it tight I will protect you from all around you I will be here dont you cry For one so small, you seem so strong My arms will hold you keep you safe and warm This bond between us cant be broken I will be here dont you cry And youll be in my heart Yes, youll be in my heart From this day on Now and forever more Youll be in my heart No matter what they say Youll be here in my heart Always Why cant they understand the way we feel They just dont trust what they cant explain I know we're different but deep inside us Were not that different at all And youll be in my heart Yes, youll be in my heart From this day on Now and forever more Youll be in my heart No matter what they say Youll be here in my heart Always Dont listen to them, cause what do they know We need each other, to have and to hold Theyll see in time, I know When destiny calls you, you must be strong I may not be with you, but you gotta hold on Theyll see in time, I know Well show them together cuz... Youll be in my heart I believe, youll be in my heart Ill be there from this day on Now and forever more Youll be in my heart No matter what they say Youll be here in my heart always Always... Ill be with you Ill be there for you always Always and always Just look over your shoulder Just look over your shoulder Just look over your shoulder Ill be there always

ggman, love that indigo girls song - but never looked at it the way you did... So very true!! Another fave of mine of theirs or at least fave quote is "Gotta tend the earth if you want a rose"...... Needless to say my little rose is sleeping in the room next to me as I type.....
Fave adoption music right now? The curious George soundtrack by Jack Johnson is awesome!! The one song goes "without you I was broken, but I'd rather be brokedown with you by my side"..... DD and I listen to the whole CD every night as she goes to sleep..... Highly recommend it!! Mega
