I was so sure that June (my homestudy person) would pick apart my housekeeping, decorating scheme (or lack thereof), way I dressed, what I did for a living...everything about me. And would arrive at the conclusion that children would be better off elsewhere. But despite all that I really believe that they can see through all that crap to a loving heart and a sincere desire to love a child (or two). They want the same thing you do - a happy, loving family for every child that needs one. Try to remember that he/she is really on your side. Take a deep breath and just be yourself. I feel sure that everything will go just great for you - even if you or your house isn't "perfect"!

I had the same feeling as u are having before our homestudy. Well, I was a little nervous also. But the things turned out to be quite easy. The counsellor who came to visit us met some of our close relatives and she discussed the different aspects of adoption. Moreover she also explained how to disclose the actual fact to the children. It was a very good experience for us and we got the answer to most of our questions. I hope that u will feel the same. Wishing u best of luck

We live in Sufolk County too! We adopted our son almost three years ago and are in the process of adopting another child. If you are creating a group I'd love to have some info on it. I Know it is important for our son to be exposed to similar families. It would also be nice to meet some adults who have been through similar experiences. Let me know.
