Where's my girls??

I'm bumping this up, because I can't join the "Long suffering wait....." thread because I don't have 9 months of waiting in.

Anyway, you know how some of you say that if you want to get "the call" plan a big vacation? Well, I hope you are right, because DH and I are planning a BIG one in a couple of months. We'll be sure to ask for insurance on the plane tickets and vacation package!

Am I the only one now who is under the 9 month waiting mark?

We tried the vacation trick, mainly because we were tired of putting things on hold when we were waiting. Unfortunately, the trick didn't work. Here we are a month later and still nothing. What it did do though was give me something else to concentrate on. For a month, I spent all my free time researching vacation stuff instead of adoption stuff. Now I need to find something else to concentrate on

We started the process in July of 2005, So we've been waiting 4 years. I have made blankets and picked up toy and stuffed animals on all of our trips and vacations since that time. I also picked up a part time job. My husband and I have decide that it probably isn't going to happen for us and will be quiting soon. I'm quiting the job and will either giving the blankets and toys to a good friend who is going through fertility treatments or the local foster kids...

I'm close to being discouraged as well. It has been 2 years and still nothing. Sometimes just thinking of having to update our home study and FBI stuff again makes me want to cry.
We also have planned a vacation. We are going to Oklahoma in August. We have put so much of our life on hold waiting for this baby and not wanting to spend money, that we finally decided it was time to just go. Realistically it doesn't look like anything is going to happen for us either. So we're going on with our life. I'm not sure yet if we will update again next month or just accept that this is how it is meant to be. I guess we'll wait and see.

can i join you?

Hello Everyone. I would love to join you in the wait if I may?

DH and I started the adoption process around the first of the year. But we have just recently become "officially" waiting. We are super-excited! However, we are trying to be realistic in regards to the wait.

I've actually been following this thread on and off since it began. We had started the adoption process once before and I just got hooked on the forum- this thread in particular! There is a lot of knowledge here and I have learned so much from reading. I have really loved watching people get placed w/ their children too!

I'm glad to finally join you.
Peace,
Sarah

Hi Everyone

I feel awful that I haven't posted in two months, but my life has been crazy. Dominic will be three months next week, and I just returned back to work yesterday. I've been struggling with leaving him to come to work. I have a strong sense of "no one can take care of him as good as I can". But I enjoyed my 11 weeks of alone time with him.

I tried to catch up on the threads, but Congrats to Mom2Max.....CrystalP-I hope you are finding peace in your decision and I hope you are enjoying your family.

I know it doesn't help when you are waiting.......but it is all very worth it in the end. AFter years of infertility treatment, watching my 3 babies die after being born premature, and the adoption wait.....it is all worth it. I can already barely remember how painful the wait was. It happens when you least expect it, and be prepared b/c it can happen quick leaving you little time to prepare. I was one of those people who had the nursery ready and some neutral clothes and all that, and I am glad, b/c I really only had 2 days to prepare, and we didn't know if it was a girl or boy until he was born. Or wait for the adoption ended up being almost 11 months after our homestudy was approved. Our agency projected that it would take 6months to 3 years. and the hardest part was after I was matched and waiting for the baby to be born to see if the birthmother was going to change her mind. I actually got so stressed over that part that I gave myself shingles.

The other hard part has been the attorney and legal fees. They ended up being thousands of dollars more than was projected.

I wish everyone baby dust!!!! Hang in there.....and if anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them. I'll try to post a new picture soon.....I'm not good at figuring out how to do that.

Welcome to the wait Sarah 33! I hope yours is short!

Congrats Waiting 143, I'm glad everything is going well for you. I think it's funny your agency gave you a timeline of 6 months to 3 years. They were really covering all the bases I'm glad you made it towards the begining of that timeframe

Babydust to all of us still waiting, but I think we may have an outdated batch of dust I've been catching a lot of dust, but no babies.

Waiting143 - So glad to hear that everything is going well! Definitely post a new pic when you get a chance. And thanks for positive thoughts about the wait! I have been feeling really discouraged lately, so it is really helpful to hear.

Welcome Sarah! Hoping you have an easy wait!

We received an email from DD's birth mom today! Apparently, her doctor's appt last week only consisted of a physical and blood work. She goes back this upcoming week for the ultrasound to find out how far along she is.
