Well...we are back again!

I can't believe I'm back here so soon. I got a call from my Aunt and her son's birthmother has had another child and my Aunt wanted to talk to her about adoption and our family as a prospective adoptive family for her. All of her other children have been taken into state custody and that is how my Aunt adopted the oldest one. So now we wait and see what she decides. I don't know if she would place him now or if she will wait for the state to intervene and then possibly call us. So now my cell phone is attached to me and I can't even sleep without it next to my pillow. I just wish we'd hear something, even a no would help calm my nerves right now! We have so much to do if she says yes and very little time to get it done.

The m/c's, the infertility, the waiting, the failed matches, it has all been worth it to have our beautiful baby S. She was meant to be ours we just had to wait for her to come along!

Congrats Saya!

I was just about to look for this thread. It's been pretty quiet around these parts recently. Anything exciting happening with the other waiters?

Yeah, we're still waiting, too. I know our time line doesn't look that long, but we were really hoping for a short wait. We just got back from vacation, but we were hoping it would be disrupted by "The Call". I think we're obsessing too much about the wait and making it seem even longer. Hopefully we'll all get chosen soon.

ETA: Daisy, it seems like the hoops never run out, doesn't it?

The hoops AND the check writing!

I hope you have a short wait, too! 7 months seems like 7 years sometimes for me!

Thanks for the prayers Nana Jane. At this time we will not be going forward on the situation I mentioned above. I have had a really hard time with the decision the mother made, but I can't change it, I can only pray for the baby boy to be safe right now--they are living on the streets, it's so sad. I hope that she starts making some positive changes in her life so that her new son doesn't go through what the other children have. Unless something comes up with this little boy we will probably not sign on with anyone until next summer or fall.

I wish all the rest of you short wait times!

I had my first meeting with our social worker last July; can I join?

We have three biological children and are in the process of adopting. We are working with a local, non-profit agency on a domestic newborn adoption of a baby of any race and either gender. Our home study was complete last November, and the wait is driving me crazy!!! We have read so many things about how agencies have trouble placing non-white babies, and our agency only had one other waiting couple when we signed, so we naively expected our wait to be short.

I just found out from our SW that the last two expectant moms who saw our book worried that we "have our hands full" with our bio kids. I hope this doesn't end up causing us to never be chosen! She said that she has two moms who will be looking at profiles in a couple of weeks, so of course I'm on pins and needles.

Well I've got good news! A few weeks ago, I was inquiring about an out of state child. That placement ended up not happening.

However, unknown to me at the time, a child that I had inquired about months ago (and was told he was matched) ended up becoming available. And so, as of last night, I'm matched; we've done the disclosure meeting, and at this point I'm waiting for an assessment from UCLA (they have a great program that offers lots of services for fost/adopt kids locally) which should be complete next week or very shortly after the 4th.

I've known about this for about two weeks (shortly after the out-of-state situation fell through) and so this time I decided not to say anything until after disclosure, etc.

Long story short we are looking at 'J' moving in at the end of July. He is 13, and a great kid!

I'm sure there will be some stressful times, but at this point I feel great about it all. I want to thank each of you that listened to me whine, and so many provided advice without knowing about it- I like to lurk-

Funny thing is, I feel like everything just clicked into place. I'm excited, but not nervous; happy, but realistic about the challenges ahead. That may all change (and probably will) the day before 'J' moves in lock, stock and barrel- but for now I just feel that this is soooo right!

Not waiting to be matched...just yet. My dh and I have our HS at the end of July. We are in the process of talking to agencies, attorneys, and Catholic Charities. I am just trying to get grounded with all of the information. We are very excited about adopting and becoming the parents we just know we are supposed to be. I look forward to this journey with an open heart and open mind and am so glad that there is support along the way!
