For those still waiting I promise that when they put your baby in your arms all the wait, heartache, failed matches will be worth it because you will have the child that God had planned for you!
Congratulations. It's nice to hear such wonderful stories. Enjoy your daughter.

Congratulations KLL! What a merry Christmas you'll have. And while you'll be enjoying the baby that God has entrusted you and your hubby to love, rear, and call your own, I'll be doing the same on New Year's with my baby girl Layla in HCMC (Saigon). I leave Christmas night and the adoption ceremony is on the 29th. The day before her big brother's gotcha day.

Oh I so don't want to sound whiney, but DH and I have technically only just begun our wait.

I'm so happy for everyone with good news, I really am!!

I'm hopeful, though, because one of the couples that was in our infant adoption class was placed with a baby boy just last week. It was so nice to hear, because I remember them sharing with the class about their disruption. It was so sad, but now they are so happy!

Just have to keep the faith, right?

daisy... well, you may have been waiting with your agency only a short while, but I bet you've been waiting to be a mommy for a much longer time. It doesn't matter how short or how long - when you're in it, it's no fun!!

The CW said we had to look in our province when going through te government's waiting list because there are no adoption agencies in Newfoundland. I actually heard tell at one time that thay are illegal here, but I m not quiet sure if that is true. I can remeber chatting with a couple from NS and I think its the same over there. Ive been on the list for almost six years. I also tried Labrador which is the same as Nl, and still no luck and I ve placed our names with the Toronto NAtive Services. Because my husband and I are first nations and we live in a small Mikmaw reserve called Conne River. Now I don't mind what race my child is. But we heard that alot of first nations mothers where wanting to place thier childern in first nations home. But even then its a four year wait,a nd the social worker said we are always going to be on the bottom of the barrel so to speak because we are from out of province. All I can say is right now I m thinking I have that other four or so wait either way, I ve waited almost six years now. I was even thinking about placing ads at one piont but thought it too tacky and risky ? What do you think ?

6 Years?? Holy moly...I find this really sad. There are so many babies from First Nations communities that need families and they won't place with you because you are out of province? I know they are really trying to keep these kids within the First Nations community, so why in the world wouldn't they look outside the province???That seems crazy to me...

Yash - that's wonderful news!!! Have a safe and fun trip going to get Layla!

Gerarda - I'm sorry to hear about your long wait. We've been waiting for about 5 years at this point, but we're not First Nations. If you were in Ontario you wouldn't be waiting! Before you place an ad, you might want to look into whether advertising is legal in Newfoundland. I know it isn't in many provinces.

Waiting for decision on a boy/girl sib group (3 & 4), a sib group of two boys (8 & 9), a teen boy (14), and on J (11) that we were matched with and then told we probably won't be able to have after all.
