Do you find that your agency will share their stat details?
Ours seemed a little "cagey" about them. Not exactly unwilling to share, but not exactly forthcoming either. Do they tell you how many emoms are currently considering/signed on or do you just hear from them when they are planning on showing your profile?

Our agency shares stats in an annual report - number of placements that year, number of waiting families, average wait time, percentage of placements by race, that sort of thing. The director of the agency also sends out a monthly e-mail with information about upcoming events & whatnot - this also includes the number of matches and/or placements in the previous month. I've never heard anything about the number of expectant parents considering - I imagine that's not information they would release because it's not really...useful, I guess? What I mean is, since not everyone who comes to them considering adoption actually makes an adoption plan, so it really only matters (to waiting families, anyway) how many expectant parents make an adoption plan, and that we only hear about if we're called to ask if we'd like to be considered. I don't know how I'd feel about an agency being cagey about its stats. I mean, at the end of the day, the stats don't mean much insofar as when someone chooses you, because it's so subjective. You could have an agency with very few placements per family and a lot of waiting families - and someone makes an adoption plan & chooses you. Or you could have an agency with a lot of placements and relatively few waiting families & still wait a while. Not sure if I'm making sense there. But still - if they weren't willing to be forthcoming with that info, I'd wonder WHY.

Our agency also sends it's stats out with their newsletter. Along with how many aparents are still waiting from each year.
They do not say about who is considering - I imagine alot consider and then decide not to place before even looking at profiles. I'd be concerned if they weren't upfront with their numbers. |

The emom that we met on Friday has chosen us!!! Our baby girl is due Dec. 29th at the latest, the Dr.'s are saying she could come any day now! I'm so excited and I don't feel nervous about this match at all! It's amazing to me what a peace I have right now. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and I'll keep everyone updated! KLL, congratulations!!
In terms of stats, an agency we used had them and if you figure it out, they would have been doing adoptions about every 2 days! And yet the same 30 couples are on their website for 6 months. It turns out that they take credit for any adoption that they may be even peripherally involved with. For example they did our homestudy and so they took credit for Athena's adoption which they had nothing to do with. And they probably put the failed match on there too. This is dishonest in my opinion because it makes paps think the chances are way better with them than they really are. I think they still have me on their list and it's been almost a year without a hint of action, and they told us their minority program was so great and it would likely take 3-6 months to get matched. We were matched with one scammer in the first 6 months, and since then nothing. I don't think they have any emoms. |

KLL .. Congratulations.
On Stats .. our agency updates us after the 10th of each month. We have only been with them for one update. So they said .. we were shown to 5 birthmom, there were 50 other couples shown, we were not in the top 3. If you are in the top 3, they give you feedback as to why you were not chosen. So, we are now waiting for our second report which will be after Dec. 10th. It really gives me something to look foward to ... TAP

Stats
My agency didn't necessarily give me stats, but told me that last year they placed 7 infants on the minority waitlist and there are currently 9 families on that list, and they placed 16 infants on the caucasion waitlist and they have 25 families on that waitlist at all times. I have been on the minority waitlist for almost 7 months, and should be on the caucasion waitlist as well in the next few months. My profile was considered for 3 possible situations in the past 7 months. One situation I turned down (4 sibling group, ages 3, 2, 1, and birthmom pregnant with the 4th), One situation the agency got to choose and chose the family that had been waiting the longest (it was 10 months at the time, and I had only been waiting for 3 months), and the third situation we were not chosen by the birthmom. My agency did tell me that they longest a family has ever waited with them is for 4 years, and that was for the caucasion only waitlist. I just hate waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I don't like unpredictable situations. My agency won't give me an estimated wait time, that's why I've been asking others what they think my wait time may be based on the information I know about their stats. My worker in the beginning did tell me that most family wait about 18 months, but some alot sooner, some alot longer.
