Hello everyone!
Brand new here in these forums but surely not new to the "waiting game". We have four adopted sons, all of AA background and under 5 yrs. old. We desperately want a little girl to add to our family. Very open to race and special needs. We have had a few matches fall through. It seems like we are too "white" for the AA BMoms (we have been told she wants AA AParents) and too "black" for the white BMoms (because all of the babies siblings would be AA). It is VERY frustrating. It is nice to know that there are people out there that understand the waiting game. We had virtually No wait time with the four boys we have and have now been waiting a year and half for a girl. Weird. Anyway, thanks for starting this thread as there are so many out there in the same position. Best of luck to you all. ~Leslie |

Welcome Leslie!!
Well, today is my 10th anniversary! So we are going out to see the new superman movie...I'll post more when I get back. I meant to mention..I have a family website thingy I set up last week. If anyone is interested in seeing it, pm me and I'll send a link to you. I just don't feel comfortable posting all of that personal info on here for everyone to see....but my forum girls can certainly look! Last edited by Leigh131313 : 07-06-2006 at 04:40 PM. |

I'll get in on the waiting support group here! We have been waiting with domestic adoption (open to sex, race, and adoption type) since Jan. With our first agency (they were great, just too small) we got matched and the mother decided to parent about 2 weeks after the match. We were glad she changed her mind sooner than later. We are now with a bigger agency and hoping something will happen soon! It is so hard waitng! This will be our first child and we have been trying to become parents for almost 3 years. To kill time I started a grad school program and I am almost finished with that! At least my waiting has been productive I guess http://forums.adoption.com/images/icons/icon7.gif We have the room mostly painted, furniture (minus a crib) and lots of hand me down boy clothes. I am so glad to have others to wait with!

Hey girls!
It's a lovely, cool morning up here in northern Minnesota. Perfect morning for laundry! Just getting stuff done before we head out for the day. Friday is Story Hour at the library, so the boys have another hour yet to eat breakfast and get dressed. Afterwards I'm dropping them off at daycare for several hours so I can get a break! I won a hair streaking/frosting/coloring thingy from my hair salon so I'm doing that All By Myself at 12:30. I was hoping to find a friend to have lunch with today - Grownups Only!!! - but no luck so far. After that I'm hitting a couple garage sales before I pick the boys up later this afternoon. Do they really need to be there until then? Well......no. But I deserve a break, right???? Finally got an email back from well-known adoption agency in New York. They have special needs babies available, low fees. (you might check them out, Leslie) I fell in love with this beautiful AA baby boy on the website, but they've already found a family for him. Unfortunately she said all the other babies have severe medical issues or have birth families that prefer adoptive couples only - no single parents. (sigh) Oh, well. In two months the boys and I will all be back at school - I'm a substitute teacher. I was just really hoping that THIS time I would get a placement in the summer - when we're all at home - so we could bond together as a family. Both the boys came during the school year and I couldn't get a lot of time off. I was really hoping for this summer this time. (sigh) Still no word about that possible situation with Q's former worker. She's off today (and yesterday) and is unfortunately quite slow at returning calls/emails. I'm trying not to bug her and call/email too often..........but I wish I could just get an answer already!!! Yes? No? The waiting to hear either way is awful! At least I have our trip next week to visit my college roommate and her boys to look forward to. Hopefully we'll have decent weather so we're not cooped up in the house with four boys under 7!!! Hope you all have a great weekend!!! Sandy

Hi Missw005! I would love to know the name of the New York agency you mentioned. Best of luck with Q's caseworker. I think it must be part of their job to be real slow at calling/emailing.

I agree...it must be a reqirement when working at an agency to work on slow and stop. Every time I call our CW, I have to leave a message, and maybe another one before I get a return call. It is very frustrating! Ugh.

Hi everyone! Welcome to the new posters! Renee, I agree with the slow phone call return. I called ours on Wednesday, and she was supposed to call me back today. Of course, I understand busy, but I HATE WAITING!!!!! I know, we all do, but it really sucks when we don't have control at all. I will probably wait until at the latest Wednesday of next week, but then I will be calling back. I just want to know if we have been even pulled for someone to look at.
Anyhow, tomorrow I am off to Brookfield Zoo with my nieces. It will be a nine year old, and two one and a half year olds. Plus seven adults. It should be great fun. And a long day. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! |

Ya know...its not that hard to return a call, i don't care how busy you are. Sheesh, you are paying their salary.
The zoo will be fun! I love the zoo. We went to the Candy Parade today...tons of fun (even more candy, OBSCENE amounts). M had a blast, we went with his little buddy and my girlfriend and her daughter, as well as his Grandpa (my dad's in town for a couple days). Afterwards we hit McD's for lunch. There is a UFC fight on tonight, we're having it at our house, so my brother and his wife decided to come up. We have a housefull, My mom and dad, Dh, M, Brother and sister in law, and FIVE dogs. More people if Dh's friends show up. We've had amazing weather lately, I'm enjoying not having to do anything in it...I don't like getting sweaty..blah! |

Leslie, I PM'd you the name of that NY agency plus another as well. Hope they help! Quote:
) of frustration of doing all the legwork myself and paying THEM for it!!!!!Yah.........makes you wonder, doesn't it?? My worker (as well as her boss in the main office in another part of the state) asked if my sons & I could be featured in their brochure as a "***** (insert agency name here) Success Story." And I said, "He**, no! The success of our family coming together is MY OWN. Your agency just filled out the paperwork. I found my sons all by myself, thank you very much." ok........off my soapbox now. As the boys and I are going out of state for a few days on Monday, I'm sure someone important will call and I Will Miss It. Never mind that most people have my cell phone number, It Always Happens. Of course, if I was here, would anybody call? ........................No. Hope you all are having a nice weekend. It is VERY HOT here, almost 90!!! All the locals are hiding inside, away from the heat, and the tourists (we are overrun in the summertime) are very confused why we can't take it. Well, duh! We live on the border of Canada!! We're not Heat People!!! I myself did not venture out 'til this afternoon today. Took the kids to the lake, on a beach with a good breeze and some shade to try to keep cool. Got a light sunburn, as 4 year old putting sunscreen on my back is not exactly the best solution. However, better than nothing. Hoping it's MUCH cooler tomorrow, Sandy PS - Leigh, what is a PFC fight? Er....a boxing match perhaps??

Hi all....stopping by to say hello.
This week was rough....we lost one of our cats, Mickey on Friday. He was only 4, and we had to make the tough decision to put him to sleep. It was the best for him, but that still doesnt make me miss him any less. Nothing else exciting, we went to a wedding last night and I had a great time. I am paying for it this morning (if you know what i mean) LEIGH......WHO WON THE SHAMROCK FIGHT??? AUGH I cant find that info on the net anywhere!!

Hey Laurie so sorry to hear about your cat.
We had to put one of our dogs down a few months ago, he was just 2 and we were devastated. It's hard, they are like children! Hope all else is well.
