Two agency fees???
I was surfing the internet checking out adoption websites when I came across an interesting website. It posts potential birthmother situations and adoptive parents actually contact this agency if they are interested in the situation. I just happen to come across a situation here in the state where we live that I was very interested in.
The problem is if she is working with an agency and we are working with another agency, is there a way the adoption can be done without us paying two agency fees? Also, is it completely wrong to think if we did meet with this person we could talk with her about using our agency, or is that rude?

We recently had a situation where our agency presented us with a birth mother who was out of state and working with another agency. We would have had to pay our agency's fees, as well as an additional fee to the other agency. The additional fee was nowhere near a typical placement fee... it was probably just enough to cover their costs for the counseling/paperwork they had done w/ the birth mother thus far.
Hope this helps. |

Our agency networks with other out of state agencies, and the way it works with them is that if they find you a match through another agency, you pay the other agency's placement fee and a nominal 'finders fee' to our agency.
I'd check with your agency and see what their fees are if they find you a match though another agency. Good luck! simone |

We're paying our agency and another agency in the state where the birthparents live and it's not cheap either. We have to do this though since the PBM is out of state. Ironically I feel much more connected to the out of state agency staff than ours.
If you're comfortable with the agency that has the match you could just use that agency and not your own. I bet both agencies would work out a plan for you if you are chosen. Like maybe one agency does counseling and the other handles consent/relinquishment etc. Ask your agency and see what they think. GOOD LUCK with your potential match!!! How exciting! ![]() Julia |
