Help...DD won't eat veggies!

DD has eaten her veggies fine for several months...as long as they are in the strained form. We're now trying to transition her to all table food and she won't eat them. She makes a face like they are horrible and starts gagging. I don't think they taste any different, I'm sure it's a texture thing. Anyone have any advice?

Two things pop in my head when I read your post:
#1-my best friend had this same problem with her third child and it ended up being related to health problems(minor). Obviously not all kids are alike and I am no doctor, but he just had some reflux problems that were causing the gagging and with the new textures, he couldn't deal with it. He also had a HUGE gag reflex problem. He is starting to grow out of it and is also on medication to help with the reflux problems.
#2-I'm not a parent, but am a big believer in children eating the right kinds of food (as I am big into living a healthy life). With that being said, my husband (who has his undergrad and graduate degree in health and exercise science) has never eaten a fruit or vegetable in his life (well, maybe once when he spit it out) and he is the most healthy person I know. He's never had health problems, never gets sick and is in great physical shape. I know that he is not a baby and it's different with them, but he didn't eat veggies either and he turned out just fine
If the problems continue, I would suggest talking to your pediatrician (duh, like I'm sure you didn't think of that already ) Also, you could try mixing the veggies with something else that she likes!
Good luck!

court, has your daughter been on the Stage 3 foods yet? I'm just curious because we're on our way there and they have a thicker consistency.

DS has a texture thing too, partly due to him being a reflux babe, so when we've tried table mashed potatoes, I have to thin them down with formula or other food like bean juice. My advice if it is indeed a texture thing is that might be helpful to gradually introduce her to the new and different textures by slowing giving her table foods to her in a chunkier consistency.

To do this, for example with green beans, mash them with a fork until they are nearly the consistency of jarred baby food. Then, over the next few weeks - begin to gradually leave the veggies thicker until she's able to eat them in their "normal" form.

As a sidenote: When I was a baby, I had a thing with textures too and still do - no matter how delicious pears are, I can't eat them because of their texture!

We're actually doing something similar with the warming of DS's bottles. He's always love them super warm and we're gradually making them cooler. So, hopefully one day by the time he starts whole milk - he won't reject his milk straight from the fridge.

Hang in there!!! I know eating issues are stressful (oh, the times I cried holding DS over an ounce of formula since they wouldn't discharge him from the hospital until he was eating a normal amount after his surgery!) and I hope my advice helps somewhat.
