From another mom of a Cj (Chamroeun Jada, in my case), there were no unpleasant surprises. Just wonderful, deliriously happy ones of the "can't believe how beautiful and perfect a child we have and how lucky we are" varitey.

Like someone else said - my first adoption was exactly how I expected it. My second adoption was a whole different ball game. It wasn't so much the adoption itself (ok, that was hard too becasue it was contested), but being overwhelmed with how much more difficult it was having two children (one who was pretty ill).

Our oldest was an extreme preemie so I didn't know what to expect and it turned out better than I imagined. Our youngest came to us after a four month wait/match and I got to know his birthmom quiet well. After we brought him home, I went through a couple of weeks of stress, doubt, guilt as I felt so badly that I had "taken" away *C*'s son
After getting a re-assuring email from *C*'s mom regarding her welfare, I was able to move into my mommy role.

Everything was great until we came down with a bad case of colic 2 weeks after she was born. It was complete *%*& the first 6 months. After that was gone life really began. It was also hard because I work and not getting much sleep didn't help my day.

I did not experience PADS. I aleady had one child. So I knew what to expect. Plus with my son, I had a c-section. I would have had to have another one if I got pregnant again.
So for me, it was GREAT not having to deal with major abdominal surgery and post pardum. I actually got to enjoy the newborn experience with my daughter. ![]() |
