Heart How much does your infant drink?

I was just wondering. I have an almost 1 month old that can drink from 2-6 ounces at each feeding and since it's been a long time since I had babies I was wondering what was a normal amount.

Also how long does it take your babies to eat. This one will eat either really fast or really slow.

Thanks in advance!

When our son was a month we barely could get him to drink 2 ounces. I'd make a bottle with 3 ounces though. He's now 3 months and we've just graduated to 5-6 ounces which is on target with what our ped recommended.

6 ounces sounds like a lot for a one month old. I'll be interested to see what others say. I've always wondered, just never asked.

Becareful he's not drinking too fast, gas=miserable baby

How much does the baby weigh? For an almost one month old, 6oz seems like an awful lot. But that doesn't mean it isn't normal. Every baby is different. I would just double check with his Pediatrician.

Hi, Debby. How often is "every feeding?" Grayson was probably drinking around four ounces, sometimes a little less (two), sometimes a little more (six), every three hours when he was a month old. But he was a big boy and still is!!

We fed every 3 hours then and still now, at 6 months. He never seems not satisfied, just likes routines.

I think our guy was around 4 oz then each time. He seems to be a little on the higher end for the average weight now (but perfectly fine, says our ped and not unusually large).

Talking hi again

Just came from a dr. appt. and my little man is now 7 lbs 12 oz. He is gaining about an ounce a day. Guess his feeding is normal but it just seems like a lot to me for him being only 4 weeks. He is eating as I one hand type this. LOL

Excellent question that I've been thinking about now for a couple of weeks. Since our 2 month appt is almost three weeks away, I was getting a little concerned.

Dd is eating 4 ounces every 3 hours or so. Sometimes it's 4-5 hours at night or stretches throughout the day, but I was concerned that sometimes she would awaken as though she was starving and then would only take 2 ounces and then sleep for another 3 hours! So, there are some bottles I have to discard and then others that she sucks down so fast that I have to stop her and burp her (and then she's mad at me for that as well!).

Isn't that fun. I normally can type about 50wpm, but with baby I just get all discombobulated trying to type one handed !

So, I guess I would chime in here. My barely two month is eating 6 every feeding, bottle dry. Not even sure I should try 8oz. He is also 13lbs, 26 in. He weighed 8lbs when born.

Help, do I keep him at six. He has been at six for about month.

Our 3 1/2 month old daughter takes between 5-6 ounces 5 times per day. She usually eats about every 4 hours, except at night when she will sleep about 7 hours.

When she was a month old, she took around 3 ounces 6 times per day. She ate about every 3-4 hours then.

The feeding guide I have at home has the following recommendations:

1 month old, 5-8 feedings, amount per feeding varies, 18-22 ounces total in 24 hrs.

2 months old, 5-8 feedings, 3-4 oz. per feeding, 20-28 oz. total

3 months old, 5-6 feedings, 4-6 oz per feeding, 25-35 oz. total

Hope this helps!

Elijah has always been a little piggy, he was eating 6 oz per bottle by 6 weeks. Now, he is eating 40 OZ of formula a day. Our MD says to let him eat if he is hungry, as is weight is normal. He is really big, but isn't a chunky baby, just really solid. ( He weighs 24 lbs and is 32 inches long, he wears a size 18 months at the age of 10 months) He is just what I call a substaintially built baby.

My 3 and a half month part timer eats 6-8 oz 4-5 times a day and sleeps 11 hours at night. The long night stretch makes it hard to fit in 5 feedings during the day -- but I think she makes up for it in quantity.
